I took a shower at the pilot in Atlanta yesterday. Ugh!! The shower I had had hair everywhere and pee on the toliet seat and ants. I won't ever be showering there again.

Yep thats it. The 2nd cleanest pilot!

Back to the original question.
I find virtually all large truckstops, whether Pilot, TA, Petro, AM etc as reasonably clean.
Some people are germaphobics.
Even my wife, arguabley in the running as one of the world's 10 most clean freaks has found the showers fine.
What I do find, and don't like is there are many showers that are dark. Poor lighting over the mirrors. Small sink areas.
But for the most part, I find them fine. -
DO NOT sit down on any bench, or chair or stool, you WILL get crabs or something else.
Bring your own soap, towel and shower sandals , If you use the truck stop towel, you will get AIDS.
Do not use the hair drier some will have, you will get head lice.
Hell man, bring along some "baby wipes", and clean up in your truck instead.
Come to think of it, the former driver of your truck..??
Probably had herpes, and spread that all over the mattress.
I'd not even bother driving myself.
Too dammed risky.Delixemodel, Cash33, allniter and 1 other person Thank this. -
almost everywhere i have been the showers are nicer then my house. Now my house is clean but old tub surrounds etc. Most all the big places ie TA Loves Pilot are all tiled with nice facilities. If you walk into a bad one just get your shower credit back complain to manager and roll on. My wife who is a clean freak (spends more per week in soap, detergent, disinfecant aisle) never has complained except at my driving but she did that b4 this job
Cascadiagirl Thanks this. -
Think someone was killed there not long ago after being robbed. -

All showers are private with locks on the doors if your worried you might star in an episode of OZ. In all of my 12 years of trucking, I've taken one "community" shower and that was on a Navy base where we were staged for hurricane relief. After three or four days of funk and hot sun beating down on the tarmac, everyone welcomed them but one guy. I guess he had issues or something.
Bring your own towels, soap and flip flops and you'll be fine. In this job, you will get sick more often, you will eat bad food more often, etc. Purell should be your friend when entering your truck.hculiver Thanks this. -
Purell is why people get sick more today.
