Thanks, I should know tomorrow if I go in for an interview, yes Pete is still in Waukesha along I-94, as a matter of fact Kenworth and Freightliner in Oak Creek had adds the last two weeks looking for transfer drivers, applied for both also and only Kenworth called back but nothing after that, Freightliner never called but hay, who wants to deliver Freightshakers anyway when you can deliver Pete's or KW's. As far as planning for retirement everyone needs to realize that you only have so much control over your life and no matter how good of a job you do or how good of a person you are, someone or something is going to pull the rug out from underneath you which is not your fault, it's all luck out here, know of a driver that lost his CDL for DUI and didn't drive for 3 years, gets hired on with a company running Wisconsin to Chicago and back every day, he got into a lot of trouble with the company that I don't want to get into detail but never got fired now he has a 3 bedroom two bath house, his sister helped with that but she passed away some time ago, I could go on but not worth it. As far as my daughter goes, ya if something happened and she needs me, i wouldn't feel good, I have to think positive about her future, as long as her healing goes ok and the cancer doesn't come back she'll be ok. She lives in Manitowoc and her cancer hospital is about 2 miles away, but has a medical transport to pick her up for that, but with her surgery she has to come to Milwaukee for that, only time she will need me is if the doctors make a quick appointment and she cannot get a medical transport in time, that's when I'll go up and pick her up and take her back home. Anyhow, I applied at KLLM but really don't think anything will happen. If Pete calls, just hope it will be steady work instead of 1 or 2 days a month.

Sounds like you got the hard part handled...... Keeping a mostly positive outlook.

Sounds like you've been through worse and came out the other side fine. Just time to do it again.

Thinking about taxes concerning retirement sometimes reminds me of something Warren Buffett once said. He pays a lower tax as tax rate than his secretary does. All of my income today is 1099 income, and I pay the same basic rate Buffett does. Estate planning can be complicated. As I age, I am transferring more of my investment capital over to an already established irrevocable trust for Keri and Bethany. By my 70th birthday (2028), all of it will be gone. I set up the trust to prevent the assets from becoming joint marital property in case Keri today or Bethany later get involved in a divorce, and of course, for tax reasons. By the time I am 70, I will have no assets, living solely on social security.

I don't fully understand Keri's retirement plan. If I understand it correctly, once she gets 20 years of service, she can retire early at 45. Right now, if I am figuring it correctly, she is 3 years from the 20 and 9 years from being 45.

In 9 years, I will be 76, and both Keri and her husband will be retired. I suspect I will also be living with them if I make it through those 9 years.

I'm looking forward to Bethany's teenage years. :D:p:rolleyes:

Why are taxes, retirement and all these stuff so freaking complicated, you think they would teach people that in school...

Because if it was simple we wouldn't need to hire CPAs to do the annual report for the IRS. Which would allow us to eliminates all those IRS, tax preparers, and CPA jobs that put a drain on society.

Estate planning can be tricky due to complex and ever-changing laws, and taxes like inheritance and capital gains are far from cheap. Most people know the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, but not everyone might be aware that after the death of then-owner Joe Robbie, his lack of planning forced his family to sell the team and, if I recall correctly, the new stadium they were playing in. While my assets are nowhere near his level, I won’t leave Keri in a tax mess. That’s why I set up an irrevocable trust—something you definitely shouldn’t do through LegalZoom.
