I love older trucks,.. but I also like sleeping comfortably. That means climate control.
When I first started I was driving some older trucks. 74 Transtar, 76 Mack and 72 IH,. Pay Star or Eagle,.. Cant remember. What I do remember was that Mack had an AC box that was mounted on the roof of the cab. The noises and shenanigans that thing emitted. Luke warm air and it dripped on me all the time. The other 2 did not have working AC and was not considered a priority to getting the job done.
Heck I remember one winter the heat stopped working,... windshield was icing over,.. we had the old Motorola home base station radios. I call in to complain about the heat. Dispatch said to take the shift boot off and deal with it. Well that had been missing since the winter before,..as every time you hit a good puddle you got splashed.
Thats how I remember the old trucks. Personally,.. I'm pretty happy to live in Fla. They cant do very much in Fla,.. but man do they know how to fix AC to blow nice and cold.
