Retro Flatbed Pics

There were a few of us hippies there.

Cordelia was so close to home I didn't hang around much, I remember spending weeks sitting in El Monte waiting for a load, eating off the taco truck, partying with Hector and/or Fred from the office after they were off. I spent so much time waiting for freight...... I had a sweet little Lithuanian honey up at the Husky in Edmonton. I remember major partying with the crazy yard guy from Spokane. He disappeared from Spokane and months later turned up in LA. He would pick me up in El Monte and we go blasting all over LA in his car at night, windows down, radio up, beers open, I think his name was George. I could tell stories all night, but I don't want to hijack the thread & I'm late for dinner.

I cant be sure it was this same truck. sure looks like it.
been a few years since then.

The thing I always did remember was the Harp Trucking.
Saw a few trucks with that name on them.
Up until the Western deal started.

Are any of you guys old enough to remember when they didnt use bungees to secure the tarps, they used wooden wedges pounded into the stake pockets? One of my first memories was the trucks hauling flooring out of the mill where I grew up and how they used them.

I'm not THAT big but stand up sleeper is for me! I could never do a flat top or cabover!

 

im 28 but i drove for a small flatbed company for about a year, they have been in business for almost 40 years....and we used rope to do all our tarping....each d-ring on tarp had a length of rope tied to it to come down the length of the tarp. I hated it! brutal on the hands and almost impossible to prevent being a parachute going down the road.
