Wow! That's a big dead head. . At least being company you make the same amount per mile. .I would have been cussing as a lease op.
A lot of companies would have let ya sit until a load in your area became available. . That's actually one of the things I like about ACT. . They won't leave you sitting to long.
I dead headed 310 miles myself The other day to get a load going to KC.
I'm sitting at the Pilot in Colby KS.. blowing snow but it's not sticking. Bitter cold though.. 9 degrees with wind chill -14 And supposed to get colder. I'm facing away from the wind, That will help. .I really really don't want to idle.
I deliver in Denver Monday around noon. . Only about 4 hours away so no hurry.
Be safe

I'm parked in Corbin Ky.going to Fountain Inn SC. drop n hook there then some tires on Monday and take them to KC
-
I made it to Denver. . I'm parked at the flying j off airport road. . Whoever laid out this parking scheme needs smacked. Of course the trucks parked in the no parking lane don't help.
I deliver tomorrow at noon. . Only 6 miles away. .
It's a heat wave. .22 degrees -
You hear about that 104 car pileup on i25 yesterday. ..
-
I saw it on the internet..I think someone posted a pic of it.. looks like Navajo got caught in it.
It's 36 now. . Supposed to be almost 50.. strange winter -
It was a beautiful day in Denver CO. .I think my thermometer hit 66 degrees.
I delivered my load to Keebler and received a pre plan going from Sterling CO to Chicago (ugh)..I don't care for Chicago. . Or any other large city. . But I guess that's the cross we bare.
I stopped at a small truck stop. . Exit 115 on I76.. it's a Sinclair station with a restaurant attached. .I had the best green chili burger and onion rings ever!
I added up my miles for the pay period and decided to hold the Denver trip. . Without it I have 2, 400 miles. I'm going home this weekend and would rather even out my pay vs large check small check.
The Chicago trip is 1, 000 miles including 127 mile dead head and delivers Thursday morning. .500 miles from Chicago to KC and the 600 mile trip I'm holding will give me 2, 100 miles when I roll into the yard Thursday evening. Pretty easy week.
Hope everyone is safe and warm. -
Holdg loads back is what i work for its an insurance policy in case breakdowns. Comes in handy for hometime to nice to stay home longer knowing you got a load in your back pocket .
-
I try not to do it because I figure it all evens out but your definitely correct in case of break down.
I saw on another ACT thread where truckerim2055 left. . I'm not positive but I believe he was one of the original drivers that I talked to when deciding to come here. 2 years invested. . Sorry he couldn't make it work.
I guess ACT is going away from the 4000 series lease purchase? Trading in the 660's for new 680's and putting them out under the 8000 series lease? After more research, I don't care for the 8000 lease. . Because it's exactly that. Nothing you pay goes towards the purchase price of the truck. . After all is said and done if you want to buy the truck.75, 000 $... ouch..
I'm not saying that you won't make money. . As a matter of fact. . When crunching my numbers it's almost the exact take home. . Your just not paying down the price of the truck.
Yet I see a lot of trucks with 8's on them. .
I'm sitting in Avoca IA.. clear skies. .32 degrees. .I hope this last cold spell was mother nature's last hoo rah.
Be safe -
I agree with you about the 8000 series lease. That lease is targeted towards the people who are not good at knowing their numbers because if they understood math they would not agree to sign it. I kind of expected ACT to go to something like that as much time as Tom Jr spends with the owner of Prime because of them both being the main ones running TCA. The kind of lease they should of established is one where there is no time frame on it with just a set payoff amount and say you pay .25 per mile until it is paid off.
The $75,000 buyout at the end is ridiculous because you know they aren't getting $75,000 when they sell them to dealers at the end. They should at least offer to sell them to their own drivers for the same cost they sell them to dealers for. -
I don't claim to know ANYTHING about Prime or the TCA..
I believe JCT offers something like the 8000 series lease. . Flexible weekly payments based on miles with plates and permits paid. . Only difference is they have a $1 buyout when all is said and done.
I originally thought that is what ACT was emulating. . Anyway, drivers can still make money with it. . They are just truly renting a truck much like someone would rent office space. . Landlord pays for maintenance and you make sure the doors are locked when you go home.
I'm sitting in the plaza off 88 in Dekalb IL..I deliver on the waterfront in Chicago tomorrow morning. ..I hate Chicago. .I really hate the waterfront..
I called to see if the receiver had over night parking. . The guard said I could park on the street by the gate. Umm no. . Unfortunately were not allowed to carry guns (Or at least I don't because of different state laws) And I'd prefer to have a fighting chance. .so I'll leave here around 0330 to make my delivery at 0500.
I received a 2 load offering. . Both loading tomorrow morning going to KC. I picked the one that loaded later but delivered earlier. ..I think it's hazmat. . Loads down around Harlem. .I remember the first time I delivered in Harlem. .I thought it would look like Sanford & Son.. it was actually clean. . And I didn't hear one gun shot fired in anger.
Be safe and pray for warm weather (of course in August we'll be complaining about the heat)
