If autos are anything like the slugs I deal with on occasion in my companies straight trucks. You can keep them.
The ONLY auto we have worth a #### is the paddle shift, with manual mode.
We are starting to talk about out ward facing cams, but don't have anything in the truck, yet.
Returning to an old job, I just requested an automatic and drive cam.

I drive a 2004 Peterbilt 379 with a 13-speed and a CAT. I have my own dash cam for CYA purposes.
I would never drive a post-2007 truck unless it's been upgraded to avoid issues with emissions garbage. And even then I might be a little reluctant. Have fun sitting waiting for a regen, or the dealer to clear the codes because it's "under warranty". I'll be busy making money.
Two weeks ago I had an oil pressure actuator sensor go, got a 10% engine power derate. This was on day one of a six day week. Truck kept on going the whole week without any other trouble and got me back to the yard on time. Sure, she had some trouble climbing hills with Canadian weights (being derated from 470 hp to about 425 hp).
I don't know how drivers who use new equipment tolerate the down time. -
IluvCATS Thanks this.
