The block off plate for the primer pump is a CAT part # 6N-4414. This cover, along with the filter base is modified by drilling out the passages with a 3/8" drill bit to increase volume through the filter base
I run the #8 feed lines. What the video isn't showing you is.........all the fittings they're changing in the video have been modified to increase fuel volume. Every fitting is a #6 O-ring boss by number #8 JIC. The internal diameter of these fittings is still the same as a stock # 6 O-ring boss by #6 JIC fitting. They drill out each fitting with a 13/32" drill bit to increase fuel flow
I run a FASS system, but I don't see it as a Hp upgrade. It is there for the ease of priming the system after a secondary fuel filter change. It is also there to filter the fuel better than the stock primary filter and get rid of the restriction it causes
Reverse fuel flow on CAT ?

I liked the idea....but can this mod be done to an engine wiith a 40-pin ECM? Fuel from secondary filter goes thru ECM first then to cylinder head on those engines so it may kill the expected gain in fuel flow when fuel passes thru ECM......
-
I switched the lines around last year but not the size... And I dont have the primer pump on. I still carry the pump because I dont run a FASS or Air dog. I haven't had any issues yet. But now I'll probably drill the base and change line sizes..

Do you have 40 or 70-pin ECM?
-
Kurt, correct me if I am wrong, but reversing the fuel flow should also help with coolling the #6 injector. I have heard of a lot of injector issues related to fuel temps on mostly #6 (and sometimes #5) cylinder.
I have been planning to reverse the fuel flow, increase line size, and installing new injectors in about 2 months when I take 2-3 weeks off. Before and after I do the work though I want to get some decent dyno , fue flow, and MPG numbers so I can compare them.k108 cat power Thanks this. -
40-pin ECM, sorry forgot that part...

Did you check fuel psi before and after?? What did you gain? Thinking about this also...but won't be putting FASS or Air dog because these are company trucks and won't have the funds.
Any benefits for stock engine?? Seems the cooling effects would be good...anytime you increase the volume of fluid it will help with cooling. What about idle quality and or smoothness? -
I ordered this kit from pure flow ,and changed the lines to the 8an the guy I ordered it from said the main reason for the fuel flow reversal was so you could get a straight shot into the head with the bigger an fitting.once you take off the hand primer pump you can see were it chokes down the fuel flow,I checked my fuel pressure after the fuel line upgrade and it was 85 psi .The kit that pure flow has comes with the hand pump bypass, washers and a little steel rod that keeps the fuel pressure spring in place, after I shimmed the pump I got the fuel pressure to 115 psi @2000rpm.Mr Haney did my ECM,and also got the 200gph fass kit from him, with 800 hp marine cam ,this is a real good combo.response of the engine is almost instant

Yes number 6 injector would be cooler, but number 1 will now be hotter.
I don't think you'll see any difference in Hp with the reverse fuel flow -
So it's really not worth doing then unless your planning to make big power?
