No, no, you have it all wrong. Those are the guys that when bobtailing thru a truck stop from a dead stop, will start out in grandma and hit every gear the first 100 feet of travel !:biggrin_25523:

    Complete idiots.

Had a guy call me on the phone...

"Hey Six, what does it mean when you have the wheels on one side of an axle going forward and the other side going backwards?"

It means that you busted the ring gear in that axle. How did you do that?

"Well, my tractor brakes froze and I didn't want to lay under the truck in the snow. So, I revved the engine and let off the clutch."

That's gonna cost @ $2500 or better. For $2500, I will lay in the snow overnight.

550 HP engine and he dumped the clutch. Owner operator. He didn't know that would happen. Education can be quite painful. I do understand why the megas spec such wimpy trucks. The idiot species is now the most common of humans.

Poor habits. If the lowest gear available can't get the truck moving without throttle, you've got the wrong truck for the job. Throttle or clutch, never shall a foot be on both at the same time.

Because we are taking off in fourth or sixth gear and make up for clutch wear by not touching it the rest of the day unless to repeat the same start.

Bean Jr. and Rideandrepair Thank this.

When heavy i give a little rev or to maybe 1k -1200 rpm. From a stop and let the clutch up then onto the fuel as it starts to move. Otherwise 3rd to start empty no fuel just let up on clutch and carry on

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

I start off in the lowest possible gear every single time, but I putz around in second at the truck stop and get passed by all the governed eld cowboys so they can get to a spot .00000073 seconds quicker

I have a pretty tall 1st gear. anything over 20k on the wagon i put it in Low. Clutch should easily last a million if used properly.

The truck should not look like a bull riding contest
