I have it installed on my Galaxy 949. It's ok, but like Rat pointed out, there's no distance. Just helps get over the locals. Hind-sight... I wished I wouldn't have had it installed, and just bought a separate linear. If there were any good CB shops locally, I'd take it in, have the RFX75 removed, and offer it for trade on a small linear. I'm even considering on sending it to one.
RFX75 add on linear

You would not get much for it on a trade. You can buy the RFX-75 new for about $35. You would be upside down just getting it removed. Because it would cost you more than it worth. Better off just buying another radio and amp.

the linear cannot be tuned, but it can be matched to the radio for optimal output and also the radio will have to be matched to the linear so as not to overdrive, or burnup the linear. The man that makes comet is still in business, he has a cb shop in west memphis ar, Ray's Electronics. if you get up that way stop in and he can take care of you, he is there mon-fri, no bs, no smoke, just 35 years experience. he has been my tech for the last 12 years and he has touched a dozen or more of my setups with lots of flowers on the airwaves. All the big radios around memphis use ray exclusively and if you have ever been through memphis you have heard fistfulofdollars, 357, k9, runningman etc. all use ray. i have his number if you would like to call him or if you are up this way stop in and talk to him.

If anyone looking for an RFX-75 let me know I have one intended to use but not going to......sell cheap

So your saying that with it installed and doing...say around 75 to 100 watts, that you can talk any distance? I have talked skip cost to cost with way less power in big trucks on AM and anywhere from 5 to 20+ miles out to other drivers on the interstate. Used to get my named called on the super bowl all the time with just a 150 watt Galaxy 48T so i cant understand why you or anyone else with that kind of power would have any problems getting distance unless your antennas/coax are junk!
-
So,increasing the power by using the RFX75 (just as you would by installing a small 100 watt linear) will not increase the distance that you can talk?
Anytime you increase the total power output that your setup does also increases the transmit range, over the years i have talked just as far with 100 watts as i have with 1000 watts+. While it's true that you have use considerably more power than 100 watts for the receiving station to see a huge increase in over all signal strenght, going from 30 watts to 100 watts will do wonders for someone wanting just a little extra talk power.
Contrary to popular belief. Installation of an amplifier is not supposed to make you sound louder, just makes your signal travel further. If it does make you sound stronger than your radio was tuned by someone who did not know what they were doing! -
I'd say it can't compete with a linear based on power output. But for the guys running company trucks that can't really install an external linear, or have no place to put it, and if you can't afford a fancy high power export radio, the RFX 75 is pretty cool. It's cheap bolt on power that works like it's supposed to. I think with the RFX 75, getting real distance is just a matter of proper antenna setup and tuning, same as with any other setup.

CT, the RFX doesn't really increase the carrier power or dead key. It just increases the PEP.
Kinda like my connex. I can have the carrier set at a low key and still going to 200ish on pep power (when you talk into the mic. Or I can crank up the carrier and still swing 200ish pep. I get out further when I have the carrier cranked up then if I have it turned down to less then ten watts.
When skip conditions are excellent, then I have talked around the country ,litterally, on less then 10 watts carrier. You just have to catch a moment when everyone is quiet for a second. Now when I go to 400+ watts of carrier then I don't have to wait for it to get quiet.
That is all I really know, if someone wants to further explain the difference between carrier and pep then please do. I would love to see a video gate of someone recieving a transmission with 4 watts carrier then have them receiving the same transmission with 100 or more watts carrier. -
Sounds like a task for Channel Jumper.
I'd rather see it on a O'scope or spectrum analyzer.Big_m Thanks this. -
