It depends
I have seen aluminum pull-outs that had nothing connecting each beam and had a lip on the end of each tube. each tube could be pinned at differing lengths up to 30". outrigger boards were carried between the frame-rails and when used the center was covered by a tarp that he rolled into the neck to stop rocks, ice, etc building up.

I am thinking along the lines of this style of ag pullouts but there are so many different types and options

All had some 60 Talbert drop sides with steel decks and steel slide out outriggers?
-
You don’t need pull outs for crates. We haul 16-20’ wide loads all the time on flats and obviously don’t have pullouts or out riggers.
FoolsErrand, pushbroom, cke and 2 others Thank this. -
Well duh, but a wider base is always more stable. I've haul 16 wide on my step. But that wasnt my question. I'm more looking at 80k pieces or a tracked piece that is 11 wide and hangs over the deck weighing 80k.

A track only requires the outriggers if more than half of the track hangs over the edge of the deck. You can wouldn't use pullouts with tracked equipment, anyway, as the tracks would shred the aluminum. Even the extruded aluminum deck 'boards' on some RGNs take a beating.beastr123 and RollinThunderVet Thank this.

Yea please don't buy a ag pullouts to use for Construction equipment they wouldn't last they are made for rubber tires I have seen way to many torn up to the point that they dont move in or out any moreFoolsErrand, RollinThunderVet, kylefitzy and 1 other person Thank this.

The only way outriggers of any sort would make a load more “stable” is if the crate was very flimsy.
A wider base is more stable but outriggers and pull outs do nothing to widen your base. You would have to make your axles wider to make the load more stable. -
more importantly, those trailers are usually only 30 or35 ton trailers. So putting 80k excavators on them is not the best idea .cke, johndeere4020, TripleSix and 1 other person Thank this.

Yea didnt think that through did I? Lolcke and HoneyBadger67 Thank this.
