It is truly unfortunate, but Philly is not in our hiring area or company drivers. Not even for someone with wide/heavy load experience.

Average payment on a new 2 axle mechanical RGN won't be much less than $250 a week, plus insurance. The rental is a 100% write off and a great way to try the water before diving in. This is exactly what I did years ago - rental/ purchased a trailer from a big outfit. It all worked out well but if it hadn't I could have walked away with no repercussions or problems.Last edited: Aug 26, 2012

Great trailer! I had a Talbert that I "modified" to have a 16 inch deck height. I drug it over every hump or bump in the country. Thought the frame rails were gonna wear out! For my money the low trailer is a better investment than a stretch trailer. It's lighter and cheaper. Although I do have friends with stretches and they do well, I'm scared of giving stretch trailers to drivers - too easy to damage or bend the frame rails if they hit something from the side in a turn. (when they're stretched)

Whenever I got high centered with a mechanical trailer I simply got out and pumped air into the suspension and drove away. A smart guy will set up his tractor so he can pump the suspension up as well as the trailer... Of course if a knucklehead tries to ram his way over an obstruction and gets high centered he may be there waiting for a BIG tow truck and BIG tow bill!

Are you a smart guy? Is your red pete, that pulls your mechanical, set up that way?

Stretch trailers are not rocket science, pulled them all the time and never had a problem with them and put the loads in places most would not even think about. Shake and Bakes out of barneys school of trucking should not be allowed to play with big toys. -
I've got air leveler setup on my trl which I can raise and lower as needed.

I have a 2-axle 35ton NGB hyd detach I need to find some work for this winter...any market in IL for that??
