When I was 20 years old I was a lowly airman in a Naval Fighter Squadron. We were based at NAS Miramar in Sand Diego, and went to sea on the USS Ranger.

One night coming back to the base on my bike ( GS550E ) I get hit head on by a Marine Corps major that is knee walking #### faced. He's driving a new Caddie. Well I flew like superman, and the collision and the flight weren't bad at all, but the sudden stop coming back to earth, well yea that hurt just a tiny bit. So I faired pretty well just getting a large gash on my right leg, like 20 stitches, but walked out of the emergency room once they patched me up. Doctor says your gonna be just fine.
I said " Man I could run like a deer, I can barely walk."
He says you were just in a combined 60MPH wreck on a motor cycle, your lucky to be alive, and it will take awhile to get back to normal.
    OK.
So what happened to Major Drunk?
    Not a F thing.
I had to take him to court just to get him to pay for my bike.
See the government has a million dollars rapped up in this dudes training, he was a pilot, enlisted men are dime a dozen. So command put the screws to me for awhile, and did nothing to him.
    Justice.
So I'm real curious how the double murderer astronaut is going to end up. Albeit he is retired, and doesn't have the value a 30 year old pilot would.
Suspended sentence, 90 days community service, 6 months probation?

That's the way it was back then, but not today. Today he would probably be kicked out. Social media and the internet have force authorities to do the right thing. It's not 100% perfect, but it's really helped get some justice that wouldn't have happened a few years ago.

That kind of behavior is everywhere there are people "in charge." They're a clique, and everyone else is an outsider. When push comes to shove they're going to circle their wagons and start shooting. Folks want people held accountable until it's one of their own. #riseabove

A Navy officer this week got a DUI in Japan. Instead of putting him in hand cuffs and shipping him to the states, the head officer of that area has now banned all drinking of alcohol, on base and off base, for all USN & USMC personnel. This goes for Japan and Okinawa.

President Abe of Japan pushed through a law to crack down on child molesters since it's so rampant in Japan. The new law states "If you're caught with pornographic pictures of children on your computer, you must delete them within 2 years or face prosecution." This sounds like a BS story, but it's true.

I've no love loss for the Japanese. Their conduct during the second world war made many of the Nazi's look like cub scouts. And I don't by into the idea that a magic wand was waived ( or an atom bomb ), and the ideals and beliefs that made them behave in such manners just vanished.
I'll bet my coat, my hat, and my house cat, that no one on the planet wants to see Trump get into office more than the Japanese. Because Trump is going to go " Well, we owe you 2 trillion. How about two or three dozen nukes, and we call it even."
    You watch.
And they gonna point them right at China. That's a score that's 5000 years old. Like I said, there's no magic wand.

Military doesn't screw around with dwi/dui anymore. Last time I visited my brother @ the sub base in Groton CT the guards at the gate had breathalyzer units and did were doing sobriety tests on drivers.

Because Japan can't have an offensive military. It's part of the agreement after WWII that Japan can only have a military defense force. I don't think nukes are a defensive game.
