Ya, I'll think about the 500 cash offer - but not much!

My ex-girlfriend and I drove team for a couple of turns to the east coast. notice I said ex-girlfriend? It's worse than being married. All the problems and none of the benifits.

Obviously the request to ride along was a bad idea as exhibited by the replies received. Though it made for a lively conversation about previous team experiences. As I'm not in a position to put out cash or gas, and not willing to put out, I think I'll have to do it the traditional way - through a driving school.

One day would be cool. And may be all I need to decide the career move is not such a good idea.

Hey burgerman your already getting discouraged man! Listen I worked my a@# to pay for school and come to find out a blemish from 4 yrs ago will keep me on the couch another yr, so I can meet requirements of a new/non exp. driver. Well I didn't give up easy. Even tho it took me a few months I did find an O/O to haul #### with and learn the ropes. If you ask me I think I will learn lots more specially in the biz end of it. I'm a person and not just a number. Most a these "training" co's want you to quit so they can get miles out a u cheap and get more gov't funds to "train" the next guy. Or serew ya on a lease. You can and will find someone to help u. I did.May be a bit harder 4 u because you can't help drive and actually bring something to the table but have faith and If you really want it you will get it. I'm glad I didn't give up. Good Luck man, L-8-ter !

I made a rule a very long time ago that if I am not sleeping with the person I don't run team with them. I have ran team with another person(that I wasn't sleeping with) 2 differant times. both times they got me in accidents. With that being said I would let you ride along for a day to let you see what it is all about. I wouldn't charge you. you pay your own meals. I will in the slc area the first part of next week but i have to go to montana after that.

The cold fact is that times have changed. Years ago, you might have found it easy to get a ride, because we love the sound of our own voices more than any other song, and think that there is nothing better than a newbie to "teach". I learned to drive a truck when I was 10 years old, running around the UK with my father. Occasionally, he would let me drive the thing around deserted yards when there was no danger of meeting other traffic. That was 40 years ago. These days we can't give rides to anyone. Last time I took my son in the truck, I didn't even ask permission because I knew it would be denied. I had to get my VHF radio programmed with new frequencies, and I had no-one to watch the kid, so I took him, and his child seat. Any problems, and my arse would have been on the line. I'd do that for my kid; I wouldn't do it for anyone else.
