I remember back in the day when JB Hunt went into a shipper and undercut lumber loads from a shipper. They woke up the drivers in the night, told them to get their stuff out and set fire to the rigs. JB got the message and bailed on that contract. True story!

Just a few of the reasons my blood pressure boils when I hear the elog and "level the playing field" argument

I was just talking to a guy about rates and electronic logs. We agreed how stupid it is because they can be cheated, and it won't change the rates. It's the same as the health insurance, not everyone wants it or needs it, but let's force it on you. More than once I have wished to experience what many of you who drove on the 80's and 90s experienced. One day it'll happen!

The 80's and 90's still had the same problems, even had rate cutters in the 70's that I knew of personally
When I had authority in 1982 we had to publish tariffs, I published my rates for a major shipper that everyone would know and in a few weeks the other carrier cut their rates for no reason. I had only 1 truck and 2 trailers and don't think I could hurt their business. Business was just as crazy then as it is now.
As far as health insurance everyone need some coverage, why should my tax money go to pay your hospital bills because your to cheap to buy protection. I don't think the average driver is going to pony up the cost of major sugery, they would just let medicaid bail them out.
What guarantee of good health or no injuries do you have? .

Quoted OD load today B'ham AL. to Miami light load 9"6 wide 760 miles 3400 all in .
Shipper said it was to high for a holiday weekend pick up and delivery.
Fl and Tx are were the toilet goes when it flushes nothing there worth hauling back.
I thought I was cheap but guess I'm not.

January last year until about May this year I had a round trip. Left hickory Kentucky went to Smyrna Georgia then reloaded out of forest park Georgia going back to Paducah Kentucky. 385 miles down, deadhead 28 and 397 back give or take. Did that 2x a week. Paid 1550 down and 1400 back. Averaged out to $3.65 a mile. Since May I haven't moved my truck but a hand full of times. Rates are just #### and id rather watch my truck rot in the yard then drive it for free

Did you rush to book it ? Coyote is following the TQL model of how to make a load stay posted longer.
Guy at coyote told me he'd find someone to haul it.
I think if you're not going to make any money it's better to be well rested at home, than hauling something
    for near free.

I told him I left my dry van in Alabama, he didn't find the humor in it that I did lol. He called back and offered 2000, but I got something else that was just better in every aspect.
Sadly these brokers are correct that someone will book it. It really costs me nothing to sit and I'm okay with it. No payments are a beautiful thing. Also patience plays a big role I suppose
