Yeah. I think the trailhead is at Lookout Pass, or there's a shuttle there. Pretty sure you can rent a bike there too, but 15 miles downhill could go by too fast on wheels

I’ve ridden it a few times. I think they rent e-bikes now and I’d go that route instead of hiking. The first tunnel is almost 2 miles long so you’d have a 4 mile round trip hike in darkness.
There are plenty of signs to stop and read. It takes a little bit to get down to the bottom if you haven’t done it before.Oxbow, D.Tibbitt, Siinman and 1 other person Thank this. -
Went for a nice little spin around the northern Black Hills last week. It was the first time I’d been up to Cement Ridge since I was in high school.

Nice! Want to spend some time there myself. What bike are you on? I see it's rigid. Is it what is termed a gravel bike?D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

Technically it’s a flat bar gravel bike. It’s a Salsa Journeyer. I rode mostly gravel roads and Jeep trails in the Hills but also included a loop on some mild single track. It does ok off-road on the stuff that isn’t too crazy.D.Tibbitt and Big Road Skateboard Thank this.

Looks pretty light. I looked at Salsa, maybe Timberjack? when I bought my last one, but we had no dealers close.

This weekend i got the goggles and chest carrier.... Awkward position for dog, shes getting used to it. But not enough to bike ride on the upright. Next hometime i ll get the recumbent out and try it
If the carrier does not work by then. Its box on the rear rack timeBig Road Skateboard, Siinman, ducnut and 2 others Thank this. -
LOL! That’s awesome. Dog is probably thinking “ Stupid humans!”.

I’ve been thinking about a Space Horse Microshift. My current gravel bike is a Specialized Tricross, with aero bars. I never use the drops and the hoods are hard on my hands where I’ve had carpal tunnel surgeries. I’m thinking about going flat bar with Ergon grips and stacking a Fred Bar on top of the stem for my aero bars. That’ll give me plenty of stack height for my aging back. Thoughts?
Fred Bar is aluminum and mounts above the stem for various accessories. Originally, it was developed for riders like Great Divide MTB racers. It’s perfect for elevating aero bars.

I don’t see why that wouldn’t work. I have the SQ Lab 30X bar with their 710 grips and inner bar ends on this bike. On my Surly that I like to go bike camping on I also run the same bar and grips. I can’t do drop bars anymore no matter how many times I try. About the only thing I haven’t tried is some drop bars with a lot of flare in the drops.
