Hopefully, the planners will keep it nice and tight and not let it turn into a Whistler or other commercialized operation. The Ocoee trail system or Snowshoe would be more like what I hope. These days, I only care about gravel and not breaking a hip. :D

Build up a leftover Niner MCR RDO frame or grab a Trek Supercaliber or other similar short-travel MTB. They’re all much more forgiving and still fast. Tons of racers running stuff like that at events.

I don’t need another bike, but, seriously looking at ordering a Lauf, because of rear triangle give and suspension fork. I’d like to do a last bike, dream build.

I would love to have a Fat tire recumbent bike for the places i'm camping. But maybe thats like a 2nd story outhouse where you realized design flaws real early in planning

I got spinal issues in neck and shoulderblade area, that is exerbated by riding uprights. Maybe i could ride longer on a double boinger, but i dont like bouncing when im mashing

Good to see this thread revive.
Maybe, I'll get reinspired because I went through a sedentary 6 months and 40 lbs came back like nothing.

Many new suspension components can be switched to platform, which only compresses on hits. And, there are modern suspension geometries that mitigate bounce, allowing full power to the rear wheel. If you ever want to go down a rabbit hole, head over to the MTBR forum and do some reading. I flirted with building up one of these fast MTB’s for gravel, but, it would be an expensive experiment, given MTB geometries are designed with climbing in mind and I’ll be doing none of that. The stack and reach I run just isn’t really possible to do on those frame styles.
