Got the chance to get away for 5 days of riding around the Black Hills. 5 days of nothing but waking up with no concerns other than where you’re getting water and where you’re going to try and sleep.

I rode about 30 miles of it from Hill City back to Pringle where I left my van. I took Forest Service roads from Pringle over toward Custer State Park, then rode and hiked and pushed my bike on sections of the Centennial Trail north until I cut back west toward the Silver City area and down to Hill City. I haven’t done the complete Mickelson Trail but I need to

Got a chance to escape to the desert for a few days. I went riding and camping in the Beatty NV area. Weather was perfect, high 60’s during the day, upper 30’s at night.

Raced BMX, as a kid. Got into riding roadie, in ‘07. That turned into TT’s and an aero bike, in ‘08. That led to a MTB, also in ‘08. That led to even more offroad and a 29er, in ‘10. That led to a gravel bike, also in ‘10. Then, I suffered some work injuries, which allowed for doing consistent 220mi weeks, during recovery. Had a couple career changes, which really upset things. Then, fell terribly ill, which knocked me down for 3yrs. After that, I made a move to FL, for a couple years. Recently, I moved back to the midwest and am hoping to get back to riding. I sold or gave away all my bikes, except for my gravel and SS bikes. The last time I rode was fall of ‘18. Time to get out and get myself back in a better place.

Bike never left my garage this season unfortunately. Too much stuff on my plate. Can always try again next year I guess.
