dang! Well,I understand ya'll have your favorites. Here's my situation : Not only do I have the trucking side to contend with , I also have an LLP , for my rentals. And , they ain't doing so well !
I use a CPA , cause it gets complex. She is great !
That being said , CPA's are like anyone else . Overwhelmed . She doesn't know the trucking side much , but has saved me a tonof $$$$ on the rental side , as well as turning me onto a Great lawyer , a law professor who works for cheap!
I just spent 14 hrs. today , catching up all the stuff I didn't do thru the year , ( a lot ) , in order to get summaries ready to send to her. Just for the Trucking side !
Problem is , when the loads are there, an u gotta Go ,paperwork gets tossed aside. And the Rentals !
What a pain ! Wanta see a really bad side of folks , Rent to them !
A quiet moment ,all I wanta do is watch some tube, catch up with the Wife , etc.
don't have time for steep learning curves ,got kids an Grandkids , too.
Not complaining , just tellin' it like it is.
Looking for a program that's simple, easy to fix mistakes , or out of order entries, ya know ? Don't want to start over ,I ain't got time to go back , an lookup previous ( week ago ) entries .
Kapeech ? If I'm paying for it , it better be like my CPA . No mistakes.
Thanks to all , for the input !
BBB , I tried Quicken , years ago , when things were simpler for me. Steep learning curve , then. Any better now ?
Happy New Year ! We're all Commies now ! LMAO ! Atlas Shrugged , anyone?

I have been using quicken now for 5 years.
I used it years ago for my manufacturing business too. -
OK, couple issues with a lot of the different solutions that I see out there right now. First, if you tale someone that is not excited about computers and they do what they do then a program like Quicken will get frustrating fast. People like MN and Myself get excited about setting these things up and over time it is second nature. But the downside is it is not all that trucker specific.
Now some of the simple programs designed for truckers can give you useful information and you don't have to go create it. But they are expensive and they seem to be old technology or are buggy.
Another course is hiring someone. But that can get expensive and it requires getting all the information to the person. And you are looking at monthly, delayed reports vs. getting almost real time data.
What is needed is a hybrid of this. OO can enter info and see it real time and can also send stuff to an office person who can enter and clean stuff up, provide additional value, etc. -
If you make the wrong entry in fuel gauges you can just go in and modify I always put in pumps cash price and modify the next day upon receiving my actual price from nastc . I have not had any problems with crashes or any other issues. It seems to be set up more for a 1 truck operation. If you have the knowledge and time to set up another program then I am sure something like profit gauges is probably not for you. As for me and my operation it has performed as advertised. I put fuel and maint receipts in as I get them and total the other receipts at the end of the month... normally in less than 20 minutes if you keep the receipts separated as recommended. It is a pain if you try to do a partial month so I highly recommend waiting until the end of the month to put info into profit gauges.
