I NEVER said it didn't effect your mpg. I said it was IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCURATELY MEASURE THE CHANGE IN REAL WORLD CONDITIONS.

Have you by chance taken a look at a semi anytime recently? If you have, you'd notice they're not the most aerodynamic of vehicles. I mean seriously...it's a ginormous box, that on it's best days might get 8mpg. You really think a 100lb aluminum deer guard is going to make a big difference in fuel economy? And besides, I'll take the $1.75 loss per month in fuel economy (since we're making up statistics, that's mine), versus the much more costly repairs that are inevitable when Bambi takes a header into my grill.

140k miles/7 mpg=20,000 gals of fuel...... If you had a 2.5% loss of MPG you just lost 1750.00 dollars in a year..... Have one on for five years n just cost yourself 8750.00... Plus the cost of the thing..... Not one of the better investments for your truck....

If you think it's the weight that is the issue you have no reason to be in this discussion...

So mind sharing where you get a 2.5% loss in MPG from a deer guard? I'll wait while you gather some links to post backing up that claim...

If I told you that it was discovered on a dedicated route hauling the exact same load over a 6 month period would that equal real world conditions????

    Sigh.....

Again, you do realize that hauling the same load, over the same route, DOES NOT GUARANTEE AN ACCURATE GAUGE OF FUEL ECONOMY? There are many other factors in play in the real world......traffic conditions, the wind, whether or not the driver uses his cruise control or not...hell even the humidity will affect MPG.

As Macho was saying, the only true gauge of aerodynamic loss with a deer guard is by putting a truck in a wind tunnel, where the environment can be controlled. All other data gathered out in the real world, cannot be accurately gauged.

But I'd still like to read the information concerning accurate MPG loss with a deer guard you are referencing.

I cant help ya.... When you figure out the 2.5% difference let me know........ You obviously don't know numbers... Which in turn means you have no clue on fuel efficiency.... Again I can't help ya..... Do you think a deer guard improves fuel economy???? There is no middle ground....
