Just remember its waaaaay better to be wide then to be short...at DPS if your getting your license aka cdl and you go too wide they might dock you a couple of points...you cut it too short....automatic fail when you go over the curb.....always use as much space as you can get,if your in an intersection when the lights green...its yours 4wheelers have to wait remember that.

The thing that made it all click for me came from my trainer at my first company and not from my school and that was when he simply said"use all the space you have available to you" If the space is there and you are not going to dangerously get in someone elses way then take it. Dont be shy about swinging out wide and getting what you need as long as you are not endangering yourself or the other vehicles. You are driving a huge piece of equipment and you gotta do what you gotta do. Im not going to sit here and claim i never ever get some curb but its not very often. Just get out there and take every inch available to you. Sometimes 3 or 4 inches makes all the difference. If you have to get extra close to a care dont be shy. Almost scraping or hitting something doesnt count. If you almost touched them then you didnt touch them and thats what counts. Be greedy when it comes to taking the space you need.Take your space just be carefull and patient. Never be shy about going a little slower to get it done. You want to get it done right and that doesnt always include pleasing other people with your speed in doing it.
