Old Deere Tractors sometimes had what was called an all-fuel engine, started on gas and when it was warm you could switch to distillate (kerosene) with somewhat less power. The manual for a 60 showed that option, but I saw some old hand cranked models with 2 fuel tanks.
Farmall had diesel engines which started on gas with the starter and then switched to diesel. My uncle had a 450 Diesel like that and coasted it to start it on diesel.

Yes kerosene engines had 2 fuel tanks, small tank for gas, and large tank was for the kerosene. I have 2 kerosene engines here by my shop now….

Back in the mid 90's Saturday around noon the TV I was locked in to TNN. Motor Trend TV, Hot Rod TV, and the Gun show I can't remember the name of, and the truck show. I was already into hot rod magazine and drag racing. Since drag guys stayed on both ends of my street when I was young.

And as more car and wrenching type of shows were added. I was glued to the TV on the weekends. But Hot Rod TV was my favorite. It later was renamed to Horsepower TV. But I enjoyed the 30 mins of parts installs. Or engine rebuilds that took something from 280hp to 600hp.

Even when the network started changing and there were several host changes. I was still tuning in because rebuilding small and big block chevys was the best to me.

The original host Joe and Chuck were the best to me. But Chuck left the show first after his son was taken from a car accident. But those 2 guys really help turn me into a HP maniac!!!

They need to bring back that 90s format on all those shows. Back when it was 20 minutes of projects and 4 minutes of tool/product reviews. These days they hardly show any project work, the rest is all product ads or events it seems.

My 1949 Case LAE engine for my sawmill. Run on gas or start on gas and then switch to kerosene after it warms up….
