    I have. There are members right here on TTR that have paid them off, and I know a driver who paid off two (sitting in his yard, trying to sell them), and is driving a third.

    I used to think I was leased at a decent company, just like JCT they required 2 weeks notice for time off. A driver here pointed out to me that was stupid since I owned the truck. But they dispatched it, so it was what it was. That small little comment, a dig at a company I had worked at for 12 years got me to thinking, you know what... ..that driver was right. This in turn motivated me to make a change to a company where I dispatched myself, no more hand holding for baby, and could go wherever I wanted and home at the drop of a hat with no notice. Of course it is all on me to get profitable rates, I manage that, and manage to work home whenever I want. That one little comment turned my life path into a whole new direction. I quit doing the "pretend o/o" game with the lousy flat rates and dispatchers planning my every move like a big baby. I took full control and responsibility for all aspects of my business. Success or failure is dependent on my ability to learn the game and set my rate, which is not cheap. I could have taken what that poster said the wrong way and flamed him but instead I thought it over, he was right, no denying it that just ain't a real o/o running a business. That is a company driver paying for fuel and hoping dispatch will give miles. That is a sad joke and I'm glad I don't truck like that anymore.

    To Steel Tiger,

    Can you also access Escrow for personal withdrawl? Swift allows you to access the account other than maintenance. I was wondering if JCT Escrow allows that. Also, how many miles are you averaging per week now with EOBR's ?

    I worked for this company for nearly 5 years, They are a great company to work for, I never had any of the problems other have said, They are not a rip-off, Yes, There are restriction to the truck you lease, Reason for the restrictions, Is it is a WALK AWAY LEASE!, They have to re-lease the truck if you dont stay in it, Once you pay off your truck you can do what ever you want to it, You want this option from the start, Go to a dealership and buy from there, Put your 25% down or what ever they want and get a loan that you can not walk away from with out hurting your credit, I got plenty of miles, Average of 3200 a week, I left them back in october of 11' because of family health reasons, I would in a heart beat go back to John christner trucking if i had to go back on the road

    Anthoer comment on this, There are always thoughs that think "Im making the payments1, So, It's mine, and I should be able to do what ever I want", But here is the real fact!, It's not yours!, You just LEASED it, If you LEASE a car, They will charge you on any thing you have done to the vehicle

    Having personally leased from them twice I have to say there are inherent problems with the company. Some of them are due to their poor safety rating and the new elogs. It is difficult to get the miles you need to make the truck payment and make a living as well. Miles are averaging 1900-2400/week. The job itself has changed. Before e logs you could stop at a truck stop nearby and make your delivery and not have to really log that time. Just a little 15 -30 min fudge and you could start your day after the delivery. Now a driver often has to park in the street outside the shipper (if allowed) so you don't start the elog going. What about shower and supper? Not happening. Women are more prone to get UTI's because of the lack of toilets. That's just hard. Other problems with JCT is their equipment. It helps if you have a strong mechanical background if you lease from them. If you depend on their shop, you are screwed. 2 days and $500-$2000 later you leave in desperation with a load and find out you have the same problems that you went into the shop with. If you ask a driver who had the truck before you, you could compare notes and the truck would have the same problems it had when the last driver turned it in. You don't get your bill when you leave or what was done on the truck. You will get a qualcomm message letting you know how much they charged you and a month or two later you can pick up the bill...maybe. You certainly wouldn't let your car repairman get away with that crap! Their philosophy is that because the turn-over is so high it doesn't do them any good to make expensive but effective repairs. And when you leave they will keep your last check, all the money in your maintenance account, and leave you owing them between $2000-$4500 even though the truck hasn't been repaired. I came back because I thought maybe I didn't give them a chance and that maybe my truck was a lemon. It wasn't a quirk. That's the way they operate.

    I'd you talked to the right drivers, they would also advised you to stay away from Sapulpa shop. Did u try getting different dm when you couldnt get the miles? Elogs is going to be an industry wide deal and unless youre driving for a small outfit, chances are you gotta deal with elogs. Planning is the most important thing you gotta do when on elogs. Funny you talk about safety ratings, if you go onto fmcsa site and look at the violations, 9 times out of 10 its the drivers fault. Before elogs there would be drivers that don't do their logs for days and get caught!
    Sorry it didn't work out for ya both times but like I've said many times before, jct isn't for everyone. Without a strong business sense and the will to sacrifice certain things to make your business a success you won't make it. Lease purchase isn't just driving a truck. It's running a business and you gotta put 110% nonstop effort to make it work.

    You just hit on the key word Alan, "Non Stop" . You are right there were guys there when I was there that were making a good income. On at least their 2nd lease and happy. I unfortunately picked a sorry truck that put me in the hole quickly. The key with them is getting a good truck that gets decent mileage.

    Sounds like great criticisam. Only thing missing is the specifics. If you wish to make such a claim at least allow us to judge your information to back it up. Blank claims help no one. Just adds your unsubstantiated clain to the trash. Any specifics?
