yea why lease? If you can save a little cash for a down payment just buy a tractor. I hear a lot more success stories with drivers that own there tractor compared to lease operators.

Is 5K enough for a good down payment?

My understanding is that if this is your first truck purchase and/or you don't have great credit, they will want roughly 20% down. So on a $50,000 truck that would be $10,000.

    pusherman Thanks this.

    Lessons learned the hard way
    Everything said here is correct
JCT is making a killing keeping fuel tax over payments high linehaul rates and the fuel network money along with the 10% Apr on lease contracts And still... The yard is a nasty dusty hell hole. Very little is spent on anything. Turnover is over 400% Chronic liars like John Mallory and others just frost the cake.
Never ever let the same company that controls the freight hold the lease.
    Here endth the lesson

    Crusader66 and pusherman Thank this.

JCT pays all IFTA. So what they keep what little refund (if any). Means I don't have to track IFTA myself and can buy my fuel according to pump price.

There fuel network is Pilot/Flying J. Only the reefer fuel is required to be purchased at PFJ. Don't purchase truck fuel at PFJ and they don't make a dime.

So what the yard is dirt for parking trailers. If you're spending that much time at the yard that it matters, then you are either local area or just not running. I barely get to the yard once a quarter. And they currently completely rebuilding a new driver area, showers, laundry.

Name a large carrier that doesn't have a high turnover rate. I doubt your 400% figure. A company wouldn't stay in business losing 400 people for every 100 they bring on.

10% percent rate. Your point? They are taking the risk on financing the truck to you without doing a credit check.

Been here for 3 years and have never been lied to by anyone st the yard.

I find funny when people include the company they hate in there user name.
