Whoa now Pardner.......$493 is about half of what some companies are charging? So, a grand a week truck payment is somewhat common, you say? I know Prime is getting, with some trucks, $700 a week, but, dang, a grand? But, your deal doesn't sound too bad, considering everything.
-
I leased a truck from Prime for 6 months a little over 2 years ago and my fixed expenses were right at $1000 and they have gone up since and then you had a 4.5 cent mileage payment on top of that.
-
So, if I break down the pay, I would net .93/mile after paying the .10/mile maintenance fee. My fixed costs on the lease are around $500/week? Do they pay full DOT fuel surcharge loaded and empty?
-
No they don't. Right now it is .17 per mile on all dispatched miles loaded and empty. So right now I am getting 1.10 after the .10 maintenance fee is taken out. Once I complete an educational program thru ATBS called CABS I will get an additional .02 per mile.
-
Hey Bigkid, what are the specs on your lease truck and what kind of mpg are you getting pulling heavy paper loads? Thanks
-
It is a Volvo engine but I do not know the horsepower with a 9 speed Eaton Fuller and 3.55 rear ends. I am getting around 6 mpg. Truck is governed at 71 but I usually run around 65.

Would be interesting to see a total breakdown on your settlement sheets on a week to week basis kinda like what jdrentzjr has been doing with his Crete thread.
Many carriers have hidden deductions that recruiters do not tell new drivers about. Of course now we have a valuable inside resource in Bigkid2 and this company Risinger (provided he wants to share that is). -
I don't want to do it weekly but I will give my deductions for this week. This is all. Like I said before only thing I really find questionable is the .10 maintenace fee per mile. If I have no breakdowns that works to their favor but one bad breakdown and it saves my butt.
Lease payment 390.00
Workmens Comp 23.00
Deductible buydown 28.00
Physical damage and bobtail insurance 25.00
ATBS 8.08 Tax keeping service (optional)
Fuel tax 30.00 (in addition to what is paid at pump to keep you from having a large amount due. They post their current fuel prices on their website and I fuel where I get the lowest net price so I fuel in Illinois alot so I should get most of this back.)
So far I am averaging about 3300 miles a week but I do stay out about 4 weeks at a time. I am averaging about .50 per mile profit.jlkklj777 and The Challenger Thank this. -
From your numbers it looks like closer to .60 per mile profit to me. Thats not a bad gig right there.
