The .10 cpm maintenance fund equates to an extra 300 per week (based on 3000 paid miles that is) to Risinger. If I were in your shoes I think I would bank that .10 cpm myself and cover the maintenance myself. I seriously doubt you will spend 15 grand a year in maintenance (3000 mpw x 50 weeks = $15,000.00) on that 2007 Volvo especially if you have regular oil sampling done and are proactive about your maintenance.
Of course this is your venture so do what you think is right. I will keep an eye on your thread to see how it goes. Good Luck!

My understanding is at Risinger, as a lease purchase operator, you don't have an option on the $.10/mile maintenance. It is non refundable, but Risinger takes care of anything that happens. This seems to me more like you are renting a truck from them instead of leasing. Much less risk to someone who has a small war chest at startup. Like Bigkid said though. If the truck never breaks down, Risinger pockets that money as pure profit. If on the other hand, you throw a rod two months into the lease, you are not responsible for the repair bill.

That is true as of a few months ago I have no choice. They had tpp many drivers who were not saving enough money for breakdowns and then were screwed when a major breakdown happened and were forced out of business. My plan is to buy a used truck and then lease it on in about a year when the lease is up on this one.

Thats not a bad deal BigKid. I have a good freind whos mother works there in the department that gets you back haul loads. She told me I should come work there and she could set me up with a meeting to talk to the Owner and some other people and she wants me to go walk around there place down in Morton and see how everything operates. She told me that she could get me in with a lease truck and it really soudns like your doing darn good. If your profit is anywhere from 50-60CPM is that before or after taxes and everything else you need to pay for? That would come out to about 75K a year at 3K miles a week.
-
That is before taxes because taxes are not taken out it is up to you to pay them quarterly. I am happy as can be here to be honest. Only thing is I wish we went west but we don't just Texas east except we hardly go to the northeast and no New York City.

well that is awesome never going to NYC and staying out of the NE as much as possible.

Its a Class Act over there,I know acouple that have been there abit.
What your ### on the politics there are some real wieners there that will cry about everything that ain't paved in gold "for them"
That ULine stuff is pretty heavy freight! -
I have actually only done one Uline load out from Chicago area and it was only about 20k lbs. I usually end up doing Fedex loads out of Chicago because I have a hazmat endorsement and you have to have one to pull them. I have talked to a few drivers that really seemed to be spoiled though.

Been home since Wednesday and have been hooked to a loaded trailer sitting in front of the house the whole time all I have to do is pack the truck up and head to Shreveport,La for as soon as I get there. I Love My Job! Won't be on here as much since I mostly use my Blackberry on the road I hardly ever get the laptop out anymore.

Where do y'all go to in Shreveport? Just wondering, I live around there.
