Because it was after a merge with another highway and more lanes were created on the right. I always go on the furthest right lane unless cars keep merging in from on ramps. But nevertheless there is no excuse to brake check a truck in my opinion.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

You're right. Brake checking a big rig is pretty stupid.

Never hard brake. Always strive to kill everyone in the car. Bonus points are awarded if you can smash it into the back of another trailer.

Ex Swift driver here. The short answer is no. Swift does have (did have) an appeals process but it's a ridiculous little star chamber. You don't get to be present or know what evidence they have against you or anything. It's just some safety department functionaries having a meeting and decide if the first "safety officer" screwed up. I've never heard of anyone appealing anything successfully.

The good news is that Swift's risk analysis points mean absolutely nothing when you look for another job. As of three years ago when I left the only report Swift normally made on former drivers was the standard DriverFacts report, which consisted of employment begin and end dates, drug tests and results, a list of accidents with dates and whether they were preventable and/or DOT reportable, and eligibility to rehire. Unless you got fired eligibility to rehire usually said "upon review". That's it.

    Lepton1 and ThreePedals Thank this.

Don’t worry. I’m sure some idiot will be along to tell us about how every one of those was the truck driver’s fault and because of all of that, every truck driver on the road today needs a camera in his face.

    ThreePedals and Lepton1 Thank this.
