That would be a good idea. Save some gas and time.

tell you what, look in the phone book for a map store. You'll pay about 10% more in price (but it's deductible on your taxes), get the Motor Carriers Atlas, laminated version. If you already work for a company and know the areas your going to be running, and have the money, pcik up some flip and fold or page map books for a couple of metro areas. I carry my Motor Carriers, a page map book for Albuquerque/Santa Fe area (we do a lot of loads there), as well as So. Colorado, No. Colorado, and the Denver Metro area. I also carry about 2 dozen flip/fold maps of several states, large cities (DFW, Houston, SLC, Omaha, KC) as well as having my Garmin GPS. I'm a firm believer in the idea that you can never have enough info.

OK Have you started school or are you about to become a trainee?
If so save the money! Get one during your last week of training! You will not need one as your trainer will have one! Use his unless he's an arse and tells you to get one THEN get it! That Rand will take up a freaking lot of room in your duffel bag!! Also use HIS tools and flashlight also! Those things you get when and if you pass the training! OR get the aq SMALL 2 c cell Mag Light, one you can put in your pocket.
Go here http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...ivers/16652-packing-list-for-students-17.html page 18 post 168 and that list is EVERYTHING you will need as there is NOT that much room in the truck or in your bags on the bus!
