Threads like this make me wonder just what exactly these "schools" now a days are really teaching these guys and gals? The school I went to had us practicing ALL the maneuvers until we mastered them BEFORE taking us to testing. A good instructor will correct you AS you are making a maneuver you're having trouble with AS you're making the mistake so you can see first hand how you're really supposed to do it, not letting you continue and then telling you what you did wrong. I know some will say the same old, "some folks just aren't cut out to drive a big truck" to which I say, BS! This job isn't that hard, anyone CAN truly do it and a good instructor should be able to instruct to a multitude of different learning curves.

Prime has a dedicated Walmart account in Lewiston, Maine and we run a ton of trucks in and out if Easton, Maine for McCaines. Pay wise Prime would be the best at .42CPM plus up to ,06CPM fuel bonus. Now since you went through a school you would have to do 40,000 miles of training starting at $500 a week for 5 weeks then it goes up to $600 a week or .12CPM which ever is greater. As far as the 40,000 that is the amount of miles your trainers truck has to run before you upgrade to your own truck.

That is actually incorrect. You get the 600 a week or 12cpm whichever is greater from start. I trained there for 2 years and that was how it always was. LEft training in November of 2013.

Thank you everyone for the responses and encouragement. I'm glad to hear the positive of you can do it. I was a little discouraged after failing twice and Roehl dropping me since they have a two try limit. Prime/Werner is 4 and Swift will take you after you pass. It was a big let down from Roehl and also a huge confidence hit.

When I'm alley docking its not to the left or right its to far back straight and wish I could get out! And get that it cancan do damage in the real time but it just sucks to keep getting stuck on it. Last test they failed a couple guys for not using the spliter/shifting correctly on the road part. They were in 8th gear instead of 3rd and get the importance of that too. I'll get it just next attempt is last one that the school pays for. Then its $300 to rent the truck to take the test and go from there. Wish that there was a way to practice even more and have tried searching but there just isn't a way around here to do it.

Hey I was in the class right after you and I went with prime. I love it so far and definitely recomend you try them out. You
Already have your permit so your ahead of the game. Youll go right out after orientation
And start getting driving experience. If your the guy I'm thinking about and you made it through buds training you'll definitely suceed here. Good luck and hang in there man.

I am taking that you went over an inch on the back side, which was also an auto fail when I tested. The best advice I got from my instructors, get out and look. Once you are established into the lane back in as close as you are comfortable, stop and get out and see how close you are to the safe line. Do your best to gage how much farther you need to back to be safe without going thru the back line cones. Then use the tread lugs on the driverside rear (about 2 inches per). Concentrate on the same spot on the tire, back as slow as you can, and count the lugs. If you need to back 2 feet that would be 12 lugs. It sounds crazy, but after doing this a few times during practice, I breezed thru the Alley Dock during my DMV Test. The examiner even told me that was the best he'd seen that day. Hope this works OK for you. Good Luck!

Sorry, I may have misunderstood your situation. It sounds like you are not able to GET OUT AN LOOK. I tested in NH and we were allowed to get out and look two times in each of the yard tests. We had to do a straight back, offset back, and either the parallel park or alley dock (Examiners choice). If you did more than 2 GOAL in any one of these it was a fail. If you hit a cone it was a fail, including the back line of the ally dock.

Years ago I started with Werner... did great with them and loved it... left when I myself decided after 5 years that I didn’t want to train anymore.....
