You really can't go wrong with either decision,.........I was hired on with UPSF in March,..This is the best company I have ever worked for,...

thanks for the reply....i already have my CDL by the way, started out yard jockeying when i was only 18 at another company, then did it here....so i was backing trailers for a year and a half when i went to my CDL school, didnt have any problems backing

road drivers have set departure times, and set destinations......the only thing that would hold them up is weather or traffic, but they always know exactly where they are going everyday

trust me if this company didnt pay so #### good i wouldnt be here......i hate working the dock for $10.50 an hour, its an open dock so if its 10 below outside, its 10 below on the dock.....and i usually do about 4 hours in the yard a night the rest on the dock

    _ton bundle Thanks this.

Yeah, I was in the same situation with the dock, it was actually warmer to work out in the yard in the winter because the concrete platform trapped the cold worse than the asphalt outside. Hotter on the dock in the summer because the metal roof radiated the heat from the sun.

You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders and the right outlook on things. I just know a lot of guys that I worked with who lived like they were accountants or lawyers and got themselves into huge debt while still making good money. One accident or injury can bring the money train to an end in a hurry. Trucking is a volitile business and any trucking company can close, even one owned by UPS. They could decide tomorrow to sell it or spin it off. I doubt it will happen with UPS, but stranger things have happened. Just keep on trying to acquire skills in and out of trucking and give yourself options. Sounds like you do that anyway.

My wife has worked for UPS parcel for 15 years and they have always expected a lot from her, but they have always treated her very well. Like fish said, you're not going to find a better trucking company to work for. I think UPS is still sorting out the kinks from Overnite (which I think was a subpar company at best), but if anyone is going to get it right, it'll be Big Brown.

yea the dock is cold as hell in the winter......atleast the jockey trucks have heat, and u are only going outside the cab to hook up airline (when its that cold i drop the airline from inside the cab by just reaching back and the line up and it comes right off...takes a little practice

the only drivers i know of that make more money then UPSF drivers are UPS drivers.....other then that i havent heard of anybody making 58 and a half cents a mile right now......im sure they are out there but not many

Why learn? Because things change. Even at UPS. If you cant change when change is needed, you will be obsolete.
