NOONDAY A Smith County Road and Bridge worker remains in critical condition after he and a co-worker were struck by at least one vehicle early Friday morning.

Smith County Road and Bridge supervisor Charlie Miller said Don Langford suffered multiple injuries and was being treated in East Texas Medical Center.

Rebecca Berkley, ETMC director of marketing, said Langford was listed in critical condition in ICU. She added that the other worker Greg Hamilton had been treated and released.

Texas Department of Public Safety trooper Jonathan Peters said the accident occurred on Big Eddy Road just west of County Road 1108 about 7 a.m. Friday.

County road and bridge had been called to clear a tree on the roadway when the accident happened, he said.
