I'm not writing any tickets. That was a joke last night when I saw it was fast approaching. I'm off this week with pnuemonia so no tickets from me. -
Dang DB, hope you feel better.
We are ready, had the truck looked over this weekend, just for good measure, but we are pretty sure that they won't find anything wrong.
Hope we get a nice sticker for the window again this year.

I know a lot of driver's get worked up over roadcheck, but it really isn't anything different that you don't have to comply with each and everyday. The only difference is there is more enforcement people doing inspections. The easiest way is this. Do your log book. stay on top of your equipment, fix minor problems before they become major problems. If you do this everyday you drive, you would be surprised how you do with every inspection. I'm sure there is driver's on here that will tell you the same thing. Good luck.
Working Class Patriot Thanks this. -
I agree dieselbear, you are right on the money. If you are a company driver, hopefully your company provides you with "owners responsibility" paperwork. It's nice to know that any tickets that involve registration, weights, mechanical and loading fall on the company, not the driver. At least that is the way it is at my company in California. Anything else is on you as it should be. You all know what you need to do. You are professionals. Or should be.

Yes db I agree. Its just the problem right now is the business has to produce the funds for the upkeep, and freight availability and rates are not supporting it. We can't all just lay down and die. A truck won't lose traction if 1 of 18 tires is under the 2/32, and the money isn't there to be picky. We are unusually fertile ground right now and the little guys are disproportionately affected. Face it, this is a sting. The reality is that a lot of guys will go under during this who might have otherwise been able to ride it out, and still reasonably safely.
The safety systems are redundant for a reason. -
Yes Pharm I agree 1 tire that is bad is not a problem, a violation yes but not out of service unless it's on the steering axle. Now if you let that one go and soon you have a few more, then you get into a costly repair. To be placed out of service at this time, you have to have two (2) tires side by side that meet the OOS criteria. If you have 1 tire on the 3rd axle left, 3rd axle right and 4th axle left you will not be placed OOS. Now if you have 3rd axle right inside and outside tire that meets the criteria, then you are placed OOS. To tell you the truth I haven't been seeing many tire issues being placed OOS. I think in the last few weeks I had two, they were both steering axle tires with steel belts showing. And I don't mean a little patch of steel belts.
Pharm, it's not a sting, if it was a sting it would go unannouced and there would be dieselbears everywhere like a pack of hornets in a hornets nest. For me, if I wasn't off on sick leave, it would be no different than any other day I'm working. I do inspections everyday, so nothing really changes. Anyway, good luck to you Pharm, you 1/3 of the way threw it. -
Hey DB could you let Ohio and Indiana know this? I would appreciate it!...LOL...
Well one day down only 2 more to go.
