Homer, as you saw in one of my posts, all my instructor comments stated that my shifting was average to above average. But due to the comments i made on the critique sheet about the school not flying the flag proudly my average dropped slightly. So be careful when critiquing!

I called Roadmaster in Dunn NC today just to get general information about the school. I was connected to "Doc. He asked for my name, age, phone number etc. Then he started asking questions about my age, health, driving record etc. That's understandable, since you have to meet certain criteria. Right now all I'm doing is researching schools to see which one I may want to attend and I told Doc that. He said that the way their system is set up is that I have to drive the three hours it would take me to sit down and talk to a staff member there to get the info I need, such as cost etc. Just like an interview he said. This is total BS as far as I'm concerned. These schools need to know that people are "interviewing" them as well, to decide if they want to give them money or not. I told him nevermind. That I was not going to drive to his school just to get general information. So they are off the list.

I just finished the 4 week Roadmaster program in Dunn, NC yesterday. I also paid cash, which will be reimbursed by my employer.
Overall the program is pretty good. The instructors are knowledgeable and I actually enjoyed it.
The trucks are ratty, but that should be expected. They're used in a training environment. Most of the students have a hard time shifting and quickly destroy the clutch brakes by pressing too far on the clutch pedal. If you can smoothly shift one of their trucks then you can pretty much shift anything. I took my road test on a brand new Volvo 10 speed that Roadmaster rented from Penske.
One of the instructors let me bobtail the Penske rental back to Raleigh, in heavy traffic, after testing was over. It was a good experience.
I had an orientation date set up with a reputable flatbed company in my first week of training. I already knew before my first day of driving school that this was the company I wanted to work for. I recieved pre-hires from 6 other companies, but haven't called any of them back.
The bottom line is that they'll teach you what you need to know to pass a NC CDL test. You learn a thorough pre-trip inspection, log books, straight backing, 45 degree backing. You'll learn how to drive a tractor with a 53' trailer on the highway, county roads, and city streets. You learn the rest when you get with the company you choose.
Don't have unrealistic expectations and you won't be dissapointed. -
I attended Orlando in Dec 09' and have a thread on here somewhere. They are in it for the money. The recruiters are the best salesman I have ever seen. They will give you one on one training on the PTI if you ask. They pair 5 students to a truck in the beginning and 3-4 before you take your road test. I would have preferred MFT but Voc Rehab was paying for my training.

This trainingschool is great! I am going into my fourth week at this school and i would recommend them to anyone. The really know what they are doing. If u need extra help they are willing to give u that help without complant. I cant wait to get out there and start driving.

I heard much about the Roadmaster that the once you have joined the driving school then it is very much demanding about their money, but I think that if you once paid their money. the only thing which you should concern about the school, is the driving training and which will given very good by the various trainees over their, and which only the thing to be considers while joining the driving school. It's better to join it.
