Okay I understand now. I just assumed the lane change. Speeding tickets etc were considered violations.

I got a level one Sunday in Iowa that I passed with flying colors. Was told just to give it to my carrier so they can sign and file it for 1 year.

Unfortunately this morning I got a level 3 in Maryland and got a “False report of duty status”.
“Driving in the on duty status at the time of inspection”
(Big Road Fleet Complete eld) Fleet Complete did a major interface upgrade early today and it completely screwed up my elog. I wasn’t given the time to get everything sorted out and claim the driving time so I got spanked. I did pre-trip at 1am and drove but the elog didn’t switch to driving.

Anyway I got to give that one to the carrier (me) sign and send back..Really sucks and to be honest, this BS may just give me reason to call it a day with trucking.

Finally had a few back to back incredible weeks out here and now feeling like I got punched in the gut.

we had an inspection last year where the ELD screwed up and just flat stopped recording going to and leaving a pickup. We got the ELD company involved, and we’re able to connect with the inspector and prevent a violation.

If the ELD had you on-duty instead of driving, it was malfunctioning, and with proper documentation from the ELD company should be enough for a successful data-q challenge.

If you pass then your company just keeps it for records. If you don’t turn it into your company I don’t think anything bad will happen. Some companies check things often, some don’t.

2 inspections in such a short time is shocking.

I sent the ELD company an email yesterday and surprisingly got a prompt reply.

We are sorry to hear this has occurred. I have created a ticket with our Technical Support team (case number 00674718) to investigate this matter further. They will be in contact soon and can be reached at 1-800-220-0779.

    Regards,”

    So we’ll see…

I’m at least wanting a letter of explanation documenting the failure so that I can keep on file.

    tscottme and ducnut Thank this.

Lol, I’ve had FOUR level threes in one trip from Alturas, CA to Calgary, AB. It’s the reason our DOT name no longer has “farm” in it.

I had the exact same thing happen to me, with PeopleNet, 6/7/23. It didn’t kick over to driving and the manual status change didn’t even offer the driving icon, when I stopped and tried. Once I got to my consignee, I tried to edit things, again. The biggest issue was it not letting me add the driving time or change the duty status from “on” to “driving”. End of day, I logged out and went home. The next morning, I logged in and it let me change it. I’ve had this happen, twice. I’m not sure what the requirements are with the PeopleNet system, but, if I had gotten inspected, I would’ve been screwed, like you. PeopleNet sucks, because of all its random crap.

    Concorde Thanks this.

Auditors look to see if the carrier they are investigating have copies if ALL the inspection reports shown in the SMS system.

Each state is different; SOME do not require no violation reports to be sent in BUT there are MANY who do.

Also, some states call the carrier looking for reports that were not mailed in.

Also SOME carriers, usually those with less than desireable CSA points pay a bounty for No Violtions Found inspection reports.

Turn it in and if questoned, you can say it was very windy; how would the carrier know different as most do not 'trust' the DOT inspectors all that much.
