Shooting Caught On Surveillance Tape
KOKOMO, Ind. -- Police said a Kokomo man accidentally shot himself in the genitals while robbing a convenience store early Tuesday.
Kokomo police said they were called to a Village Pantry store at about 4:20 a.m. after a call from a clerk.
The female clerk told police that a man came into the store with a semiautomatic handgun, grabbed her hair and demanded cash and cigarettes before handing her a white cloth bag, WRTV-TV in Indianapolis reported.
The clerk said that as she retrieved the cigarettes, she heard a gunshot and turned to confront the man, who yelled that he had shot himself.
"The bullet traveled through his right testicle ... and then into the bottom part of his leg," Kokomo police Lt. Don Whitehead said.

I saw this happen once. One of our local bad guys went into an all night Stop-N-Rob and ran out with the loot. As he was leaving, the woman clerk screamed. Two citizens with Concealed Carry Permits, who were pumpin' gas at the time, gave chase. As the perp got to his car behind the store, they caught up to him. He turned around to see the two guys with guns telling him to give up. Instead, he yanked out his Roscoe from his waistband and accidently shot himself in the leg, not once, but twice!!! The two armed citizens saw he had a gun, and was shooting, so they politely capped him in the gut and the shoulder. Needless to say, this Desperado fell to the ground screaming and callin' for momma. When the guys from our Department arrived, he was begging for a meat wagon to take him to the hospital. He stayed in the prison ward of the local hospital for a while, then off to the slam he went. You just gotta love these dumb crook types.
