Hey can any of you LCV guys provide some real insight on Rocky Mountain doubles ! I would like to know the correct length of an actual rocky set ? I see companies pulling a 53ft with a 36 ft pup !! I don’t think that’s a rocky set. What’s the actual combo ? And length ? Please let me know

RMD's are 41 meters on four lane and 31 meters on designated two lane in Western Canada.
Given that answer, then what exactly is a RMD? A 53' and a 48' would qualify as such on four lane highways. Right?EvertonP Thanks this. -
Depends on your definition of "Rocky Mountain Doubles". In the US, it's a 48' 2-axle trailer and a 28'6" single axle pup on a single axle dolly. A 53' and a 48' would be a Turnpike Double (or, en Quebec, a Train Routier).

I’m an lcv instructor. It can be any combination longer than 82 feet, to the limit of the provincial permit. The most common is a 48 or 53 foot trailer with a 28’ pup, just because most companies use 28’s.

I have come to the conclusion that it is any two trailers that have different lengths.EvertonP and upnorthwpg Thank this. -
