I just passed my skills tests with the NM MVD, for my Class A CDL. The school was Rocky Mountain Truck Driving School, in Albuquerque. They were good, the tuition was modest, $2,699 plus $200 for the state examiner and truck time. Because our class was over the year end holidays, we got the full treatment for $2,000. Plus the $200, always. The school was very strong. Good, solid information from former OTR drivers and O/O personnel, the truck was a healthy ol' Freightliner, 10 speed, Detroit Diesel 60 series, (awesome power unit) and 48' dry box trailer. I thought it was a great value, because all 10 students got our permits in one try, got our CDL Class A on the first shot. This school does a great job, with a success score of 98% pass on the first attempt. I'm going to work OTR for Conway after training in Joplin. I'll be waiting for a non-smoking trainer, up to a week per Conway. The main thing for me, get those wheels rolling, work hard, make it happen. I'm happy to have a job, actually.
