Question for Manic: You mentioned that students are responsible for transportation to and from the hotel. That is inline with what I read and was told by the recruiter (Kim), I'll be flying in and won't have a car, unless I rent one, which I would prefer not to do. What are the options for getting to and from the hotel each day and what are the costs as this will be pretty much 6 days a week expense? Look forward to your response.

Thanks Manic and Goblue. I figured they wouldn't spend the money and time training you and then not offer a job.
In my research I had come across some horror stories of companies trying to get you to sign a contract and even if you were smart enough not to sign it before they offered you a job, they would get you a spot at their school and then try and kick you out at the end and send you a bill. I
'm glad I found this site. It has answered all my questions so far from good and bad companies to the best kind of electronics(coolers, TV's, ect.)
Just about everything I've read about Roehl has been positive. The only bad things have been the same old dispatcher complaints which I could care less about.
I'm excited about the future and if they'll take me then it will be with Roehl. -
Ive been workin my ##### off. I havent had one problem yet. Any minor corrections have all been positive and just to.make things better. Roehl good company. Good peeps.

IF however you DO have certified truck triver school training and a CDL-A, or recent OTR experience, then your phase I will be either 5 or 9 days, depending on your ability. In that case all your transportation, meals, lodging, and tuition WILL be paid. Upon completion of Phase I you will receive a $600 hire bonus, in two weekly payments of $300.
Your Phase II in any case will be with a trainer. You will receive $90 per day provided you work at lease 6 hrs per day. After approximately two weeks when they feel you are ready, you will be given a written and a driving test to verify you have the necessary skills, then graduated to Phase III.
In Phase III you will start OTR in your own assigned truck, earning roughly .30 per mi. for a newbie in a dry box van. Your milage per week will vary, depending on your drive/hometime schedule, region and type of loads, and how much you have to deal with weekend dispatchers. You can plan on around 2300 mpw on the low end if you average a day home per week to over 3000 mpw on the high end if you stay out and push. This is comparable with the handful of better companies out there.
kee1227, truckerwannabe220 and Rick_C Thank this. -
brianc,
I currently live in Marshfield,Wisconsin.
If you dont wish to rent a car, Radio Cab (Taxi service) operates in town.
I'm sure after the first day, you will be able to set up transportation with others to get back and fourth to Roehl.Last edited: Apr 28, 2013

Boomer,
Thanks for the info. I will note Radio Cab. BTW, I've been accepted for RDTC and will be starting on May 13th. I'm really looking forward to attending the class and getting started on the road.
Again thanks... -
Glad to help.
I wish you the best in your future career. -
