My trailer decided to take up smoking this morning.... Was checking the lights during my pretrip at 0245 when I saw smoke pouring from a hole in the brake light enclosure on the left side, where the ABS module is. Unplugged the trailer to cut power. Had to wait for the breakdown folks to come in at 0500, now waiting at TA near Austintown, OH to get in their shop. Glad it didn't happen when I was going down the road.

Oh, it probably did, but you still caught it in time. Good deal, and way to stay on top man. I caught 2 tires once on in trip that were flat spotted almost all the way through, and both had to be replaced. The spots must have been on the bottom during pretrip when I grabbed trailer. So a little hint, when taking a trailer, pull it a few inches and check tires again.

    technoroom Thanks this.

Got to shipper in Jay ME at 1700 (as I ran out of hours) only to be told another driver picked up this load at noon. It wasn't assigned to me until 1600, after it had already been picked up. Second time in 2 weeks. What's going on with the planners?

Trailer problem turned out to be that one of the LED marker lights (the red ones in the center of the trailer between the tail/brake lights) had shorted out and was a ball of flaming plastic goo. Made a lot of smoke for such a small object! Apparently the entire rear of the trailer is a single chamber; when there's anything smoking in there the smoke will come out of the holes near the back corner/s of the trailer.

Parked at Gary for the night; head up to Marshfield in the morning. I only have 7 hours left on my 70, so looks like I will be enjoying Marshfield hospitality until at least 0000 on Tuesday. :)

Last time that happened to me turned out a driver grabbed the wrong load. Really wastes your day when that happens. They should give you lay over pay.
