Didn't see a question there. And the answer is straight. If I takes you 8 min to check in then it's logged 8 min.

I was only referring to the checkout process. my mind is young and a checkout is used at rdtc and phase 2. for van it entails the significant manual labor of pulling off dock, obtaining bills. lock seal van. and entering loaded my call. maybe adjust tandem. I don't really care..I do it. haven't had a dot check yet so I suppose whichever way is good til someone hooks you.

So if it's required of you, then log it for as long as the process takes you. Keep in mind I wouldn't start logging anything until the bills are in hand, no point in logging the 3 minutes it takes to pull forward and shut your doors, then log off duty for the 3 hours it takes them to print your bills.

Good example today as I sit for hours. I had a 10:00 appt. got here at noon. Wasn't my fault. I needed an mt, although there are hundreds of trailers at Gary, none available. All were for dedicated, loaded or had glad hand locks.
So, I was sent to south side train yard to get one. Now I just got a door at 1630. And still waiting on live load.
It's always been my dream to babysit a truck for free.
Now supposed to have delivered in Tomah at 17:30. Not even going to make it there maybe just north of Madison, if I'm lucky. Had pre plan for 10:00 appt tomorrow in Medford WI. Not going to make that...

Ditto. Never check out, always in. Sometimes takes a min to get bills and go. Not going to mess with that.

Update. Still at shipper and haven't even started loading. Oh yeah, 67 miles and 4 hours left on 14.

You just described my day. Get to Cedar Falls, IA to unload. Appt is 1100, get there at 0930. Get a dock at noon, unloaded at 1530. Had PP to be in West Branch, IA (98 miles) for 1500. Get to my pickup at 1600 which was suppose to be a drop n hook, but now told it's a live load and appt was suppose to be 1100 and since I'm 5 hrs late it will be several hours before I can load. Message to FM, "this is a mess, appt was 1100, won't be loaded for hrs, won't make am appt". Asked to overnight here because hrs will be gone by the time I'm loaded. Was told "nope, gotta pull it off the lot when loaded." Awesome, so now I have to miss my appts, plus drive illegally to find a place to shut down.... good times....
