At the Beach (Pontoon). Zanesville OH cons tomorrow during the winter storm warning and 4"-6" of snow. That should be fun on the $ General hill. Ohio east looks to get nasty.

Last night my bunk heater went out. Was on then made a rumble and quit. Still blew air but no heat. Called maintenance tried filter and blowin it out no luck. Iwas at xt 190 on I 70. 14 degrees this morning. Good thing I had my sleeping bag and blankets. This poor truck was cold though. I am now at xt62 on I15. And heater works. Could it be altitude?

In my non-trucker experience, intermittent problems like that seem more like a wiring issue. Something loose maybe?

Well my home time is just about up. Got a load into St. Johns, appointment time 10pm. Hoping the lake effect snow machine holds off, if I get sent through the Chicago corridor afterwards.

I've got the same thing with my 2013 Prostar. I couldn't even get the filter out to clean it for fear of wrecking it, so I left it and reported it to maintenance. Hopefully they will get this fixed.

What was wrong with a simple Webasto heater and an APU? They keep telling me how the battery system will heat or cool for a full 10 hour break (it won't), as though I would never need more than that. Auto idle is also supposed to keep the batteries charged if they get low, but it doesn't, turns on a couple of times but still fails before morning.

First off, hen it gets cold, the prostar will start a couple times a night, and only run about 10-15 min. I don't care what the mechs say. I've had 2 and the both did the same thing. It will charge when it's low, meaning it will run for an hour and a half or so. For cooling, if it's really hot out, and you're running the a/c full, no it won't work for a full 10, but should still start for a recharge.
They went away from APU's because drivers never maintained them, and would also leave them running during home time.

Never had one at Roehl. At Marten all I did was check oil and make sure it was still there and bolted down. Anything else and I informed maintenance.

Why didn't you idle? No way would I freeze through the night like that. I'm assuming you can override idle shutdown like I can in my KW?

Spent the night at Ellenwood. Got jammed up 6 hours at a paper mill so split logged to get here around 1am. Seemed like the best time to deal with Atlanta. First time I've been here. Grabbing a relay then heading to Chicago. Trying to get home sometime late tomorrow for the holiday.
