I went through last night. Was going to shut down in Gary, but saw 9 inches for Chicago overnight, so headed north of it. Like you said, no lanes to be seen so cars were just milling around everywhere. Was kind of funny actually. Got to Janesville TA and called it good.

J xt 95 on I-65 IN. Was planning to go through Indy, but traffic was crawling, and local radio said to many accidents to even list. WTH, it does snow here, people just lose their minds or what? Anyway, I parked it instead.

Truck stop on US 41 just north of Milwaukee.

Long day. Delivered steel slab this morning in Oak Creek, then got sent to Oak Creek drop yard to pick up a relay/local going a few miles away to South Milwaukee. Lots of equip on the trailer -- straps, chains, binders, coil racks, steel and lumber tarps, etc. etc. so dropped off same amount of equip from my truck at the yard. Get to cons, and I and another Roehl driver find out that they're closed until Monday for holiday break. FM said that cust service previously got confirmation from cons that it was OK to deliver today, so glad I don't have to get in the middle of that "dialog."

So, get back to yard and I couldn't get the trailer to come loose from the 5th wheel. The jaw was wide open; I could see the entire kingpin clear as day, but something was still hanging up. Finally another driver came and held the release lever out while I pulled forward, and it eventually came loose. Hope this isn't indicative of problems to come.

Eventually got another relay, a two-stop load that delivered in Germantown WI late today (2 coils of stainless) and then in Hammond WI on Friday. Then home after that. Gonna be -12 here tonight. I see that next Monday it's supposed to be insanely cold in MN and WI -- lows of -26 and highs of -15. Wonder how a tarp behaves at -20 or so; can't imagine it's good. :)

It doesn't behave, and it's not good.

You're the 3rd person I've heard that's happened to in the last two days. I helped another Roehl driver at a shipper yesterday while he held the release lever. Same thing today with another driver, and now you. Strange..

At the mothership again. Was told my truck was ready. Wrong.. In a bunk room for the night. Not sure how anybody sleeps in these things. Bunk rooms are right over the shop. You're suppose to sleep when all you hear are air wrenches?
