Yeah, I did notice that happening too. I think the person(s) who came up with the idea were just thinking about the engine warming aspects of auto-start and forgetting the battery charging aspects (and that the bunk heater / coolant pump drains the batteries also). The (flawed) thinking goes: if the bunk heater is keeping the engine warm, then auto-start doesn't need to keep the engine warm and therefore it can be left off. BZZZZT Wrong answer, Hans.

1. Slow Down!
2. Stay Back!
etc. -
My main reason for getting off the road in that weather is someone else taking me out. Also most of you all know, that stretch of 94, you can go slow as you want, but most other vehicles don't allow you to stay back. That space you leave they think you did them a favor and kept an open spot for them. Truck or car.DsquareD and technoroom Thank this.

People can't stand to see any space between vehicles. I was pointing this out to my son when he rode with me. I said, "look at that truck tailgating that flatbed, he just passed us and we were going exactly the same speed as the flatbed but keeping a safe following distance."
It was pretty eye opening for him to sit up in a big truck and see what goes on out here.technoroom Thanks this. -
I think all new drivers should have to ride with a trucker for one day.

It's a good thought, but 99.9% of sixteen year olds couldn't care less. It wouldn't stick for very long.

Does the bunk heater usually shed power and turn off in a truck with auto start. My prostate does not have auto start and will run heater at least 10 hours. And mine will shed all outlets and lights before the heater. Heater will at least run another 30 minutes. That's how long it takes me to get up and start it.
