One hell of a day today. Went from gary to Columbus, delivered, then to Cleveland, and delivered. Only about 150 450 of my miles today were interstate. Sitting in a rest area on 77s waiting for a pre plan.

Sitting at the customer in Minnesota deliver in the am. Got the call I have been waiting for today. No more docks or waiting to be unloaded for me. I will be delivering brand new Peterbilts all over the country including Canada. 55 cpm company paid Health and Pension. They fly you home after delivery and you sleep in a motel every night on the road. Yea I know its a sweet deal...... Im bragging a little bit. Roehl was good to me but the miles are dwindling and this job kind of just fell in my lap so to speak.

Camped out at Gary tonite, spent 3 1/2 hours on 94 through Chicago this afternoon which ate up my clock. I would have made it to the cons in MI if not for the BS in Chicago!

At rest area I-35 S before Kansas City. Last rest area in Missouri. Nice place. No micro. Ice. Or shower. But quiet. Plenty water and 24 hour toilets. Had top ramen ravioli and tamales tonight.

Do you have to install axles on Peterbilts? Have they told you anything about the undecking process or are you just doing singles? You'll soon find out your competition is not other companies but is the other drivers working for your own "drive away" company. There are only so many long hauls to give out and the short runs have to get delivered too. You'll have to pay your dues for a while to get on "the good list!" Yes, there will be favoritism between FM's, yard managers and drivers. You're the new guy so don't expect any favors till you've been there a while.
The driver turnover in the "drive away" sector of trucking is the highest in all of the industry. Most drivers don't realize what they're getting into and the money at first, almost always isn't what was promised by the recruiter. Most drivers work for more than one company to prevent the inevitable dry spell for when your original company has no trucks to move. Yes, that happens!
Get on the "Life After Roehl" thread and keep us posted on how it's going. I hope you like it. -
Made my way down to Winchester, VA at the Flying J. Tired today. Seems like a lot of work for 350 miles.
