If you leave Roehl on good terms, they will gladly have you back. This is my 3rd time back at Roehl. I tried the OTHERS, and I got more pay and more home time, but also alot more bull$hitt.

That's what I'm afraid of. I don't wanna leave because I like how roehl does things. I don't wanna go to another company and risk them doing things I don't agree with. Roehls a great company in my opinion for experienced or non.

true i already know how roehl does things...but want less hand holding....i like Roehl except having a dispatcher trying to tell me that the route given is the route i have to take no matter what is going on kinda thing..... I guess i will find out what kind of bs another compqny has with less hand holding and a smaller fleet that isnt forced dispatched....if it doesnt work out i will come back to the company that gave me a chance

I hear that. My dad and my cousin both drive and they are given a destination and discretion to fuel and route where they feel is best.

New Roehl dispatchers are trained and told to take command of situations with their drivers.
If you take it as hand holding you wont like it here. They have a system and routing to be cost effective and to make money.
I'm on my sixth year with roehl and enjoy my profit sharing and full benifits. Sure I have looked around but when I look at the big picture
And continue to grow my 401k , I'm making more money in the long run and getting all the home time I want weekly.
Just my 2 cents, good luck mic I hope the grass really is greener for you. ;-)

And to all our vets and service men and women thank you for your service and your sacrifice and god bless you all this memorial day weekend

You hit the nail on the head. My FM usually gives me a load and leaves me alone till I'm at the consignee. With my last dispatcher he'd send me messages all the time asking if i was on time for delivery.

But I will say I've become complacent with roehl. I like how I can talk to the higher ups like its nothing. Everett was here a few days ago in Gary walking around asking drivers if their getting enough miles and if they enjoy what their doing. He asked me if I was getting enough miles and if i enjoyed driving. I was honest and said I love working here and my FM keeps me rolling. It wasn't until after we talked that I found out who he was lol. I never saw a pic of him till afterward. I was like wow, good thing i didn't have anything negative to say lol

I admit that I've been tempted since my year is up, however, I started at USA Truck and know all about how other companies treat drivers.

That being said, I'm always open to new opportunities. Might talk to Roehl about leasing the truck I'm driving as it was mentioned to me that I could have it if I wanted. Its a maybe if the the numbers make sense. I've owned two businesses in the past so I'm well aware of what I'm doing.

Anyway, I'm home for the weekend but don't get Memorial Day off. Have to leave at o'dark 30 on Monday to get to Green Bay. Then I have my next two preplans. Pick up in De Pere bound for Hamilton, OH. Then pick up in Dayton, OH bound for Green Bay by Wednesday morning. Going to be two days of hard running. :)

Good luck Mic, hope things work out for you. I am sitting at the rest area MM 127 on 80 in Indiana, headed for Gary to relay this load off and see if there is anything there for me or if I will be sitting AGAIN.
