It's also important to log detention because Roehl isn't making any money when your truck is sitting. They care about you as the driver, but they also care that their equipment is sitting tied up not generating any revenue. When you log detention, Roehl will use that documentation and the bills with the times logged on them to go to the customer and either charge them for the delay or renegotiate the contract for the shipment. It's about you the driver, but it's also about the company.

Indeed I did. It was 1500.

They didn't finish loading until 00:45

I had 1 part of the load put on within the first 2 hours then had to go to door 8. I sat outside for 3 hours. Then I sat inside the building (only truck on my side) for 5 hours. I threw straps because on the papers it said not tarped. Went to the scale house to get my bills and in big print at the bottom it says load must be tarped.

I've been up since 6 am. I called dispatch to let them know I didn't have enough tarps. Headed to Gary after all that crud and got here about 2am.

I'm friggin exhausted. Straps are nothing.. But sitting there waiting sucks. There's no sleeping there, they bang crap around and make so many noises it's not possible to even close your eyes.

Detention is going to put 80 bucks in my pocket hopefully.

Yeah and I should have left at 0100 because I ended up being late but since its a D/H it really doesn't matter anyway. I left late because I needed the sleep!

Delivered at 0630 and get my preplan for coming back out of the house and now I'm pissed off! This is the third weekend that I've gotten home late Saturday morning and they want me to leave back out late Sunday night to pick up before 2330. Here's the really irritating part, it delivers 170 miles away with an appointment at 1500. Now why the hell would anyone schedule it this way? Since I'm on dedicated and my FM is gone for the weekend, I asked them to email him to request him to call me.

This shipper is also habitually late with their preloads and I have a 50/50 chance of getting there and its not loaded. I've decided that if I don't hear from the FM, I'm not leaving my house till Monday morning as the pick up is only 75 miles away. I'm sorry, but I think this load planner is pushing to see how far I'll go before I draw a line in the sand. Well, they've gotten their line now.

sitting at the T/A just north of Indy...heading to Eau Claire....now this is how I am used to running...nice and tight...but not terribly tight schedualing...with at least a days travel...I don't care that its not a 1k trip...but I already went to columbus..then to dayton now back to eau claire...thats how miles add up...those nice long trips are great miles on the face but bad when you start looking at cut offs for scanning to get paid...one long one once a week works with a couple day trips really add up...but when you do 2 long runs back to back it sucks cause then its a rush to get paperwork in or its a 1500 mile week LOL
