Roehl Driver Check In

Well, that was a great read! Thanks guys and dolls of Roehl for giving me more variables to consider in my effort to get back into the world of trucking. Impressive collection of personalities you have entangled in this thread.

I have a question that I can't find on the Roehl websites... What is the hiring area, and does it include this poor unfortunate soul from southern New England? Though for the right start back into trucking I'm not ruling out a move.

At the Petro in New Point, IN. This a definetly an older one but the restaurant staff is nice. Time to go lay down for a bit.

 

I'm at the drop yard in Dallas. Left with a load from the Cottage Grove, WI drop yard on Friday. Tried delivering it (drop and hook) yesterday. Lady at guard shack says I need a conformation number. I call work. They try getting it. They can't find any special number. I ask the guard shack again if there's any other number that they can use. "Nope that's the only number that will work." So tell work that. Head down to a truck stop and wait. Get up this morning and ask what's going on. They still can't find this number that I need. So they tell me to go take the load to Dallas and relay it. Which is perfectly fine with me. If anyone takes a load to the Dollar General distribution center in Ardmore, OK make sure you have the conformation number to give to the guard. Or hope someone can find it for you.

 

Ahhhhhhh yes.....the good ol' weekend crew. They don't know #### from shinola. If they make more than minimum wage...they're stealing.

 

I'm going to blame it partly on Roehl not getting all the info for the load and on the guard at Dollar General for not really doing their job. I mean there has to be more than one way to let them know that I have a load to deliver there besides one conformation number. Oh well. I'm laughing about. Now they won't get the load of toilet paper for a couple days.

A lot of companies utilize a pickup or delivery conformation number. You might not see the value in it, but in part it deals with the control of inventories for tax purposes. Oklahoma is one of those states that implements a tax for any merchandise of value just sitting on your DC warehouse floor. It also tracks and helps reconcile deliveries to and from the center. Spread sheets for cost analysis of loss, damaged, etc, etc of goods for auditing and the like.

Just like all the little nuances in driving a truck professionally that others don't see, it's vise verse for the goods you haul.

So no real need in creating more paperwork when 1 confer number will get the job done & keep the books square.

 

Yes it would be there. Had someone gotten the number and put it in there.

 

Most other places do use one pick up or conformation number, but those places also have other ways of knowing what load you are picking up or delivering. I guess I went to the one place that doesn't have any other way of knowing what I was delivering. If stuff like this didn't happen truck driving would be boring. I know now to remember to get a conformation number for Dollar General if I take a load there.
