I joked about the door closer thing a while back. At first I was annoyed reading them but never commented bc I assumed it was in good fun. The I referred to myself as a door closer in the same post or a different one also joking around. I'll repost to either defend myself or say my bad if I misunderstood something in other posts or if I was flat out wrong. I really could care less in general what anyone thinks about me but being a trucker to me is a bond that we all share no matter what division so I'll keep posting if I didnt understand or to prove a point. Looking back I'm on the fence really about what I posted. On one hand I agree with whats been said and on the other Im stubburn as a mule and dont. From both sides of the fence it looks like if I was in Ethans position I'd probably be pissed too but Im not so I look at it from a van drivers point of view. Im conflicted really. Either way I wont shy away. Im ok being wrong and misunderstood it opens it up for discussion and changes the way I look at things which for me is good.

I just see it as being paid less and having no choice in the matter is all. That's the only thing I don't like.
I just can't wait to buy my own truck and be done with being a company man. I'm a company driver with an Independent Owner Operator underneath struggling to get out. -
Well this isn't good. I go over to pick the load up and was told it won't be ready until 2300 on the 3rd!! I did get an mt though just in case they take it off of me. Night dispatch noted it and told me to call at 0800 after my 10 is done. As far as pulling loads from other divisions, I never have and I never will. And yes I have told my FM this so she doesn't even try it. Besides taking a Reefer Driver's load just doesn't sit well with me. That load I take might be the load they needed to get home. The only time they tried was last time out when my FM was not in. They said it was to keep me moving. I sent a non commit telling them I drive in Van Division not Reefer. They immediatly took it off me and replaced it with a Van load. I had to wait until late the next day to pick it up but who cares.

well, i've driven reefer, van, curtain, and flat.
they all look the same to me through the windshield, and a low-pay load beats sitting in a no-pay truck stop.Mic, Rattlebunny and Pirate Trucker XOXX Thank this. -
Hey Lantern... not calling you out or anything, but did you read your permits?
MN, no OD loads from 2 PM Friday until 2 AM Tuesday morning.
WI, no OD loads from 4 PM Friday until Tuesday morning.
Guess if you were east bound no polite Diesel Bear saw you because that would not have been a nice ticket! That is what I was talking about when it comes to OD Layover. Your permits did not allow you to move. Probably why your FM wanted you in Illinois, even though you had no chance of making it.Lantern Thanks this. -
What kind of pay cut did trainers get? Sounds like I got out at the right time.
-
Treefork would prolly be better to answer, than I. But I think it went down to $40 a day, and they don't care about flat or not, and trainers no longer get the penny-a-mile from the students from the first year. Student pay went up, though.. I think to $90 a day?
-
That would have been about a $8000 a year cut. Not cool. Good luck finding decent trainers.
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
It will get to the point where they will have a guy training with only 2-3 months experience behind him.
I don't want to scare away any new people because roehl is a great place to get a start but once you have experience, go somewhere else. If your happy there, that's fine, I am happy except for the complaints I've had. Roehl has given me a chance and a second chance after my accident. I'm not saying their a horrible company, as they are still high above most carriers when it comes to how your treated and starting pay.
