I use those little one wash gel packet things. They are pretty convenient so you don't have to carry a big bottle in with you to wash too.

Nothing was out there when I passed. Parked out in the street a day cab pulled out and I backed in off the street and out of there 10 minutes later. Then dropped my empty in Zachary la at gp and bobtailed to brookhaven Ms for another empty. Parked and went back to same gp for a load only to wait 8 hrs for preld trl. Goodtimes

Just got unloaded at precision strip in Alabama. Got here at 1700. Had to wait till 2000 to check in. Finally got unloaded at 2345. Gonna get a few hours if sleep then head to gp for plywood bound for Florida.

What do you do while waiting for 3 or more hours like that? Are you still considered on duty? Can you catch some Z's? Or do you just count the rocks in the gravel?

I think that is still on duty/ not driving, But( I'm not sure about this) I think you could use the split sleeper birth deal.

You should ask safety for clarification for that. You may be able to use your off duty authorization, or my favorite you could just hang out in the sleeper.

I was in the sleeper berth so I logged sleeper. I'm at the customer but since I'm not performing any work I'm considered off duty. You can't go off duty at a customer so I log sleeper. I had to wait 3 hours so I logged one hour on duty not driving to untarp, unsecure, and put everything away.

Then the other two hours I ate dinner and watched a movie.

Went back on duty to check in and back in the door, got unloaded and parked. Went to sleeper and went to sleep. I just woke up. About to head out to Georgia.

    See above

So, If I read that correctly, you are using the split sleeper, which is min. 2 hrs sleeper, so you gain time on your 14 hr clock, which give you more time to tarp etc.and allows you to not waste any of your 11 hr drive time.......... Does that make sense?

If that was me. I would just logged one hour on duty un tarping, and unsecuring. Then logged sleeper the rest of the time to get my full 10 in.

Your running dry box, so literally this is what you will do.

    Arrive at customer.
Log on duty for 5 mins (check in)
Log sleeper and wait for your door.
Log on duty (if you want to(though you should)
    Back into the assigned door
Log back on sleeper and chill out
Red light goes green or some one gets you then you can leave.

Now if your out of hours and taking your 10. If they have a place for you just go park and stay on sleeper berth.

That is how I did it. Probably entirely different then how everyone else does it but it save me hours and that means more driving. Paper logs would be extremely different. Legal though.
