Yeah, I've done it several times, not real popular with night dispatch but safety has never said a word to me. One day I had to make an appt on time, night dispatch wanted me to finish my 10 and just be late to the customer. I told them okay, but ended up splitting anyway. Id rather keep the customer happy rather than a nightly dispatcher. So 8 hours in the sleeper and I go to the customer, guess what, had to wait two hours to get loaded, so jumped in the sleeper for that time and boom, my hours replenished minus what I used that morning to drive there.
Anyway, I'm at the Sky hook at exit 2 on i75 on my way to Rockledge, FL then headed to the house. I get to take my truck to my trucking school Saturday for an open house. The recruiter from covenant will be there along with the lady from COMCAR. They show up in cars, I show up in a truck.

Who would you rather listen to, a recruiter telling you something, or a driver?

Man time to break out that Mickey mouse mirror. Heck yeah, I've been saving it for a rainy day!
As for me. I waited most of the day to get a load. About 2:30p I got my load. Picking up in Mexia AL delivering to Rockledge FL. Delivers on Monday so my FM told me to take it home. Deliver it on Monday and head back home. Scheduled back out Friday am.
Yeah.. No one likes taking extra credit home but it was the only load... :/Pirate Trucker XOXX Thanks this. -
Recruiters duh....Pirate Trucker XOXX, DrtyDiesel and Meltom Thank this.

Lol, that's why you went to a college instead of National
EthanPirate Trucker XOXX Thanks this. -
So how do you deal with that? Do you have to 'trade information' with the other driver, like you would in cars? Or do you just tell your dispatch? Do you have to be able to install your own mirror, since they're kinda important for driving....?

No. Do not attempt to understand split-breaking. It's a hail-mary pass that you can end up paying for, for days afterwards. It screws up both your 14 and 11 hour clocks. The only times I did it, was to get home, where I'd have a reset to wash it away.
Though, now that I think about it, none of that time period was using E-logs, which may be much more beneficial in the record-keeping regard, at least it'll tell you you're doing a stupid thing.
You easily run into "If I sleeper for eight hours, I can get 4 driving hours back.. if I sleeper for 10, I can get 11 hours to drive back...Pirate Trucker XOXX Thanks this. -
Shut up. No I'm still pulling this crap. Funny thing I have a trailer full of palletized coils cut thin.
I miss flatbed bad and plan on getting back to it. Just haven't decided "where" yet.DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
Have you considered, perhaps... Roehl Transport? I hear they can do wonders. Third time's a charm!Cheryl and DrtyDiesel Thank this.

It doesn't work that way bro, if you take 8 hours in the sleeper then 2 hours within your time then it sets everything back to normal. It doesn't effect your clocks for any day after that.
Now if you take 8 hours in the sleeper and then only work a few hours then try to take a 10 and only a 10 then yes, it will screw your clocks up. Basically in this scenario you would need to take a 12 hour break after that 8 hour.
Also, your not getting a certain amount of time back, at least with elogs. If you run your 10 hours driving and work 13 hours one day, then take 8 in the sleeper, after that 8 you would only get back one hour of driving time and 1 hour on your 14.
This is the reason Roehl does not want us using it, because if you don't do it just right it will interfere with future clocks.
