Well back in Marshfield from my journey to Fargo ND. From Marshfield I took steel racking to Fargo ND, from there went to Warren MN to pick up Hay (No TARP!!! HECK YES).. Ended up spending the night 15 miles away to turn around and go back to unload 2 bales. Farmer Randy said if I get there early enough and he sees me he will unload two bales, otherwise 07:30 I must wait.
I arrived at 5AM, no go he apparently had already left so I said screw it, back to bed I go! Well got woke up from a guy knocking on my door at 07:08 this morning. He had already unstrapped, removed 2 bales and restrapped the load.
He could tell I was like what the hell. He said he had no issue removing the straps and figured unloading would of woke me up. Then proceeded to make a joke about me being half dead when I sleep because I didn't feel him unload me. Which, I concur I must of been in a deep sleep then. Really great people at that farm.
Well I called the consignee farmer david.. told him my ETA was 16:45 - 17:15. He said ok, no problem just come on and they will unload me. Sweet. So about 14:50 I get a quallyyyyycom message saying new ETA it tomorrow at 09:00. OK..... Stopped at the closest rest area and called BB. I let him know farmer david said to swing by and they will unload me. He said ok, then we discussed me moving trucks. I told him I don't mind running the weekend for busy work as long as its local. He understood.
Well as I was unloading I get a preplan............................................
Yes............... preplan.
I added all those ..... because of what it said. Dramatic entrance for my load assignment.
PICK UP MARSHFIELD WI 10/13 08:30 - 22 empty miles
DELIVER CHICAGO IL 10/15 07:30 279 - loaded miles
I made it very very clear that I want to get this paperwork done on Monday morning. Not Tuesday, not Wednesday, not Thursday, not Friday, but Monday. Your delaying me, and I already spent $900 on a downpayment, it is unacceptable to expect me to deliver this load on Monday and HOPE you have something come back. It is unacceptable to assume I will start mid to late week as a L/O. No I want to get in the door when the orders are placed on MONDAY.
So I was pretty pissed and deadheaded to marshfield. Walked into the dispatch office (night dispatch now) and told the guy they need to cancel that load on me. Well he looks it up and says I will have to come back in at 7AM to have the planners do it. Then proceeded to ask me what if they get a load from Gary coming back up to Marshfield would I take it? I said no, I have been burnt way to many times by promises. He said ok, well come back in at 7am. Ok fine. Walked back to my truck and had a quallycom message saying to talk to bob in the morning since he is in.
I'm all for making money and staying busy, but the minute you start affecting my plans to make more money and to better myself we have a big issue. This load needs to be taken off me because that is complete BS. I told them I wouldnt mind busy work locally, taking advantage of my situation is just wrong. Bob has bent over backwards for me to needless to say, I'm not even on his fleet and he has completely did everything I have asked, but this just isn't like how he has been treating me. If the planners sneaked this in without him knowing.. well it will be best to leave that subject alone.
And at a change of pace, night dispatch.. Wow, so nice and friendly in person, on the phone they are just a-holes. I guess it's different talking to a driver over the phone then in person because the day I've been having being treated like crap in person would of really struck a cord.
Ok, now that my rant is over I can relax now. Just had to get that out.. It's irritating being so close but so far away because of the hands in the cookie pot wanting to make alittle extra $$ off me before I switch.
As for the truck I am leasing.
Brand new headlights
APU installed nicely (inside of it looks great to)
Paint touched up
Rewashed
Redetailed
And they had a list of other things they did. To much to put on here. I LOVE Marshfield mechanics. I treated them to some pizza tonight, they deserved it. -
Oh and I think it's smart business to go ahead and do a 34 so I have a full 70 hours to run as a L/O. Any one else think differently? (Not you over there behind the bushes Planner Abby. You don't count)
-
The reefer planner didn't think so in my case. You shouldn't have to worry about that.
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
Home sweet home

If you get really close to the 70 in 8 qnd don't have to use the 34 you'll come out with more money, and they will know how your going to run YOUR business, because if you let them they'll run you through your 70 with a bunch of chicken #### short runs, and have you jumpin through you ### for the least amount of gain for max hurry-up. be selective.......Remember it's you looking out for you, they are just looking for the truck payment.
